last week I bought a 4x20 scorpion that failed to focus after one week and 10 shells through my TC Encore 7mm mag. I took it back because of the counter warrantee and no questions asked it was immediately replaced. But is this going to be a common problem, has any one else had a problem with Scorpions

Who is Scorpion optics and where is it made? Price isn't always an indicator of quality(or lack thereof) but what did the optic cost?

TDC

A Canadian company(MB) that started off making bow strings. I would assume the scopes and/or scope parts are made overseas(not Europe) which is not necessarily a bad thing, but could be.
Looks like they copied the Leupold Gold Ring, so that may be a red flag. They are not really inexpensive, but then again neither are King Optics products.

There prices don't seem way out of line, but with an unproven quality there's no way to know for sure. I suppose it might be worth a shot. Although, they don't seem to offer anything different than anyone else. Your typical 3-9 scopes and low end fixed powers. The rangefinders would be a steal if they're reliable.

Scorpions are made in China, glass is average at best(going by the one I looked through) but they do have a good warranty. I'd say give them the benefit of the doubt if you like the scope, but if you continue to have issues then maybe look at replacing it.

I would be lying if I said i was a good enough shot to need a Zeis, it suited me and I am willing to give it a try. I was just curious if any one else had expierience and maybe I had it tied to too much recoil. The counter warrantee is fabulous and the JoBrook staff is great

Your ability and the quality of gear you use should not be equal. If anything, your gear should be better suited to the shot than you are. With poor gear and a not so great shooter(no offence, just making the case here) how would the shooter know what the issue is? Could be shooter, gear, or both. That being said, even cheap glass should work as advertised. After zeroing, the optic should continue to put rounds on target consistently. The optic may not track true but it should hold zero.

I've got the higher end 4-12 Venom. Quality optic, at 10x, it's at least as bright and sharp as an Elite 3200 10x mildot. Supposed to withstand magnum recoils. Also has a rainguard type coating. Has a balistic reticle. Very good so far, but got to do more testing. Looks like a quality product, plus they are local.

Talked to a guy in the know. The Venom series supposedly have comparable optics to the Elite 4200 and the Vortex Viper.

Good to know. However, good glass is only good glass. If the internals are sh*t there's no point worrying about the view.

I toppedmy 7-08 with the Venom 4-14 AO. It has so far withstood about 30 handloads down the pipe without any problems. The "NO STING" guarantee sold me and I only have to drive 40 mins. to get a new one if it does screw up.

One of the dealers tested the Venom model on a 50cal BMG. Said he shot 150 rds and it held zero. Another dealer I talked to said he shot a number of round with his .300 WM. Held 0 and tracked nicely. So I'm very hopeful we've got something here.

Yes like I said the counter warrantee was great, no questions asked just off with the old and on with the new. Maybe the failure to focus was a one off, every one makes duds now and again

Two Scorpion Venom Hi Grades 4-12x40 AE AO and BOTH are defective with black flecks in the glass, inside of the scope. Sent in the first one, received a new warranty replacement and has the exact same issue. Quality control is junk.

I trust gun dealers like car salesman...they tell you what you wanna hear and what will profit them.
