How I met my deer rifle

My first thought was that she was bit old for me. I was not her first, and it showed. But nevertheless she was still in great shape, even if she was more of a Ford than a Jaguar. This is probably why I was able to overlook the bad fashion sense; style that might be described as outdated or even downright tacky. Makes me wonder: Did pressed basket-weave checkering with white-line spacers ever look good?

I’m reminded of the girl that one might ignore when she first walks into the party. But later that night you find that she tells the best jokes, likes hockey and has infinitely more interesting things to say than that bleach blonde with the Chihuahua in her purse.

You don’t notice it at first, but after a few walks in the woods together you find yourself picking her up more often than not, despite sleeker looking models waiting in your cabinet, all lubed up and ready to go. The other day I was thinking; after two hunting seasons together, I barely look at other deer rifles anymore. Is this healthy for a man my age???

But what’s not to like when you have a dependable companion that you can drag absolutely anywhere with you and not have to worry about “drama” over things like getting scratched, soaked or cold. Far from being “high maintenance”, a little attention from me at the right times is all that is needed. As a matter of fact, this one does not like to be babied; firm handling is best.

Last but not least is the way she performs. She’s good... VERY GOOD!

i was pleasantly surprised; i was expecting a win 94 in 30-30; at least you've got a gun that'll shoot a pointy bullet-when most folks say deer rifle, it means win or marlin lever, followed by the odd raised eyebrow when they see it's a savage, but the remmy pump is head and shoulders ahead of those- and, properly maintained, won't tear itself apart like the autos do

I dated a Model 94 .30-30 for a while, but I dumped it (passed it off on a friend actually) for the Model 760 .308. I tried to love the Model 94, I really tried. But there were just certain things that the M94 was not willing to do for me, if you know what I mean ;).

i've got one, but it's not for deer; it's an shtf on my back rifle in 44 mag- trapper- my primary is a savage 99, but that's been around so long it saw the ark land

I dated a Win 88 in 308 for a while and wished I never dumped her for bigger faster one wearing a belt on her bottom and a bolt on her side.I still have the belted bolted one now for many years, I just wish I had them both,I know they would get along

I'm dating a Model 94 right now, she'll be legal next year!

Loading the chamber isn't easy without the proper gun oil...

Actually forget it haha

I'm currently dating one of the Weatherby girls. She has some sweet curves and likes the expensive jewelry and is always satisfied with the loong, hard brass. Sometimes she slaps my cheek but that's only cuz I was bad. :adult:

BEWARE;SHE WILL EAT YOU OUT OF HOUSE AND HOME with very little to shew for it- is 20% worth it?

Fantastic analogy!

Never considered m'self a "player"...I've got a wee harem now. It's so true...they all demand attention and, I try to share it equally. The date I bring depends on the venue but, lucky me, any issues with our relationships, I've caused. I've only parted ways with a couple of the gals and, that was because the propsective dates made it clear I was being selfish. Funny, I still think of those ladies and, wonder how they are...I don't regret their replacements though.

...some of them don't get out all that often anymore but, have never had the
"I can remember the first time, just not the last time..." issues with any of them.
