yep

here's my timeline so far

completed pal course in november
waited...bad move on my part until I confirmed my rpal course
sent in pal application late march
completed rpal course april 2nd
pal received by miramichi april 4
received letter saying I was missing info end april
sent proper info, as well as stating that I would like to go for Rpal classification
waited until I received rpal course results on thursday June 2nd
June 2nd faxed results to miramichi
called up today and did my interview, my references did the same

Im hoping im good to go for the end of the month :|
 
Here is how it went for me in B.C.

April 16 2011 Challenged the PAL and RPAL. Passed, given score sheet (or what ever it is called) by instructor.
April 17 2011 filled out application. Got references and wife to sign same day.
April 29th Application received.
May 2nd approx. Called to make sure nothing missing etc. Everything was fine. Told to call back in a few days.
May 20 2011 Called did the phone interview. Had references call the same day for their interviews.
June 6 2011 License has been approved. If not received within.....etc.

I'm editing this to include that today, on June 10th, 4 days after the approval was posted and in spite of the Canada Post slowdowns, I received my RPal.

good enough for me.
seeing that i'm not in super rush, i won't mind if i don't receive my piece of plastic in late July, early August ... but that being said I'll do my part in expediting the process.
as mentioned i just completed the PAL and RPAL safety certs this past weekend.
i am to get all references signed in and my photos done this week and hopefully mail on thurs.
let's see how it goes.
 
well I corrected my mistake called up and told them I may have answered a question wrong on my interview turns out I did because I misunderstood it
question was if I had been reported to police for violent acts etc, I had said yes
WHat I meant is I had reported an ex for assaulting me ...so they added comments to my application

anyone know if the cfo will see this? as my app had already been forwarded to the cfo for approval
should I call the cfo to confirm?..getting anxious :D
 
My tenure in the firearm fold is still new. But I've been advised during this initial process that honesty is the best policy.

Give them a call and let us know how it turns out.

Ahh yes.
I think another call would be redundant in that case.
You're already doing your due diligence in disclosing the details as per above.
At this stage, and from what I've read so far in this thread is to engage in persistent but gentle reminders every so often.
Then hopefully all will turn out.

My application appeared online last week. Called today and they said they're sent me a request for my pal and rpal exam results (which i still havent received). I asked if i could still do my interviews before they were sent and was told that i couldnt.

My exam results have been with the ontario CFO since 1st week of May so im at about 5 weeks now waiting for my rpal and pal results. Any idea where they're at with these?

From what others have mentioned recently it appears that the Ontario CFO is taking 6 to 8 weeks to process the test results. My test results were sent in during the second week of May and I have not received anything either. When I mailed my PAL application (minus the stamped test results) I added a note stating that I would mail in the stamped test results once received. The RCMP called me a couple of days after my application status (finally) appeared on their web site asking me to fax in the results due to the postal strike.
 
woot got approval today called cfo and they did my approval over the phone and emailed me to say I was approved :) let the shopping begin..any ways I can get my pal number from them?

As posted elsewhere.. the CFC has a "rule" that prevents them from giving you that #... (yes it's retarded).. but if you call in and get xfered to your CFO they can/will give it to you.
 
ok just realised this, I gave my reason for wanting my rpal was for getting a job (which it is) I actually never stated that I wanted to do target shooting is this going to be a problem?...thanks for the tip shalimar

No that shouldn't be a problem... since target shooting would be part of that as well or just a hobby for that matter.
 
wait time

well after waiting 9 weeks for my test results i mailed in my complete application via UPS. they received the app on May 31st.
i have been checking daily and calling them to get my app in the system.
finally it was entered today. the date they entered was the date they received my application. lets see how long it will take now.

so that's almost 2 weeks after receipt. yikes. i've been checking online everyday as well since receipt was confirmed via reg'd mail to Miramichi. this was last friday.

i've not received my test results yet either. that'll fwd after.

it definitely is a waiting game.

I did the same thing. I sent in my application with the PAL test results (I haven't received the RPAL results) via registered mail, it was received by Miramichi last Friday, and nothing online. I'll play the waiting game, too. But after a while it does get boring.
 
call em up :)..saves alot of hassle...and waiting...im sure id still be waiting for my "approval" if I didnt call in yesterday

called cfo today and they gave me my licence #..IN ONTARIO:eek:

anyways I wish to go purchase my hunting rifle this weekend do you think a regular store like say lebaron would need the actual card to sell me a rifle..or is the number good enough?
 
Why do people in Ont. Have to wait for their test results? I challenged both exams and the instructor (he had literally just finished a PAL course and test) gave me the results sheet to include with my RPAL application, right then and there. I think he said he would be mailing/faxing the actual test in but the results sheet was accepted with my app. with no problem. I thought all of the provinces were working from the same legislation. Wouldn't that mean the same process would be in place across the country?
 
i guess its different here, ours gets mailed out to the cfo so they can verify the test results, then stamp it..and then it sits in a pile waititng to get mailed back...usually takes 4-6 weeks
