Stupid citioits, I truly hope the gophers well, honestly, if anyone knows a way to accelerate this "issue" within the city, the next time I go to Regina I will spend an extra day assisting the gophers in thier noble cause to over run the entire city and consume every single last flower that has and will ever grow.

It is to bad beavers cannot flourish in an urban environment.

oh good poison them all so your dog can go and chew on a gopher and die or maybe a bald eagle will pick one up.

20 leg hold traps over 3 days and a pellet gun and you should be good to go.

offer the kids enough of a bounty and you'll see grandpa's old leg-holds come out of the garage- i'm sorry, but 5c /tail just doesn't cut it anymore- and since when did a kid care about labour intesnsive?

tell them you get a piece of candy per tail and you'll see a lot of little kids with tails

if you think a kid works for candy these days, you're mistaken- unless she spells candi- it's ALL about CHOCOLATE, and that goes for far more than a nickle

My Gawd where do you live that beavers don't thrive in an urban environment? As long as they can get food and have areas they can inhabit, THEY DO! We have no shortgae of them here and municipal works spends alot of time digging culverts and flowages free of dams.

When I was in grade school I lived on the east edge of Regina. Would get home from school, grab my 22, walk down the street then start shooting as soon as I was past the houses. Nobody said squat except the guys living right next to the fields that would buy me boxes of shells and thank me for eradicating the pests. How times have changed:(

I don't live in an urban environment and never will again. I live in the just south of the exact middle of nowhere. Seeing as beavers eat trees bark and reeds , and cities are not full of trees, bark and reeds I doubt Regina or other major centers have the same sort of beaver issues that they do have with gophers, skunks, coyotes and raccoons.

However I do hope I am wrong, and they do flourish and start cutting down boulevard trees and flooding city streets

I'm not sure if they "flourish" or not, but they do cause problems in cities. A few years ago, beavers were chewing down trees in some park in Regina. Whatever dept. that looked after this park still had employees with common sense, so they shot a few. Wow! All the do-gooders put up a huge stink about these barbaric people shooting the poor beavers. Of course, they wanted the poor beavers trapped and "relocated". I remember the supervisor saying something to the effect, "Sounds like a plan. We'll catch them and let them go in your yard!"

I now consider beavers as real big gophers. Same class as skunks and racoons.:shotgun:
