Birth of an Irish Contract LE(pic heavy).

I personally don't put a lot of stock in the $$ value of my firearms,I buy them to shoot and enjoy. The real value comes from hearing the stories that people want to tell me when they see this No.4.Like the first deer they took with a sported No.1 or the old gent that lugged a Bren gun from one end of Italy to the other, now thats an investment! Priceless.

Amen brother! Go shoot that thing, and savour every shot.

I had the same dilemma when they first appeared on the market. At that time in the early 90's, Lever Arms was selling them (they were $300.00 to $400.00 ???). I just liked the idea of having a new in the wrap rifle but at the same time really enjoyed the prospect of cleaning up and shooting one.

Yup, you guessed it, I bought two.

I always had a weakness for unwrapped blondes.......:)

You only live once, so shoot and enjoy. I owned my wrapped Irish (purchased from Milarm in 1995) for about 3 months before I couldn't take it anymore.

Spent an entire Sunday doing a surgical CSI-style unwrap. If I bought another I would do it again.

Most enjoyable........

Sorry but the MkII rifle in the OP came with a No9, blade style bayonet. The spike will fit but it isn't right for that particular No 4 MkII.

Was doing a quick walk throu at a gunshow being one of the first in line at the doors and saw one wrapped up on a table.About 2 table lengths later i realized what it was and went back to find it sold.It went for $250.

They sold for $265 from Century.............

So where else can you get a BRAND NEw 60 year old rifle?:D
For the purists who want to leave them wrapped, you might as well get a wood plank, bandsaw it to the shape of a rifle, and wrap it up for all the good it does. And I would ask just WHO are you saving it for, the guy who buys it from your estate and unwraps it?;)

A Civil War Henry rifle its NOT!

Hmmmn, well my $200 investment is now selling for up to $1400, if I wait 25 more years, what do you think it'll be worth?

The $100 unwrapped rifle is now worth $450, and I get to play with it...but do you notice an exponential difference in rising price?

Those civil war henrys were once common & available too.
