I am going to be buying a good pair of Bino's for the fall in the 8-10 X 40 range and am looking at the Kowa's as I can get a pretty good deal on them $1400.00 approx..What are the thoughts on Kowa's bino's.

Not familiar with their binocular... but they do make first class spotting scope, so I would expect the quality to be on par.

This been said, the price is getting pretty close to Leica/Swarosky territory...

Gotta agree with this, if you are looking to spend that kind of money, you might as well take a hard look at the Swaros, Leicas and other Alpha glass. Check out the Optics Talk forums and even some bird watching forums and ask their opinions, some of those folks really know their glass.

Kowa makes outstanding glass. Phil Shoemaker tested some of theirs extensively and wrote very nice things about them. I've used one of their spotters and it is top notch glass. I would buy their binos in a heartbeat, but only if I could look through them first to ensure that they fit well and were comfortable for long periods of time.

As a former Kowa sales rep I can tell you they made the very best gear for the money and you can compare sxs with anything on the market. I'm sure you will be very happy and you get to show them off to all of your buddies who have never heard of them.
