Does anyone use a 22-250

While I truly love my 22-250 Tikka t3 I think it is too small for deer, but man could you hit them from along way away.

You need to check the hunting regs for your area to be sure it's legal. Using a .22 centre fire for deer isn't legal everywhere. If it is legal, make sure you use the right bullet. That likely means no factory ammo. .22-250 factory ammo is usually loaded with varmint bullets. Varmint bullets are not suitable for deer.
 
It is Legal to hunt deer in BC with the 22-250.
Definitely not my first choice for deer, but with the proper bullet and careful shot placement, you'll be fine.
I would try the Barnes 53 TSX or the Nosler 60 Partition. Whichever shot best would go deer hunting.
If your ifle is a 1-14" twist [most likely] it may not stabilize the 55 TTSX

I used one on my first rifle deer back in the day. I was supposed to be using a Savage 99 in .308 but the week before the scope crapped out on me and the next best back then was a 22-250. I took a decent sized 4x4 with it. The deer dropped just like all my other ones.

This was before my addiction and having eight backup rifles.

Yes I have a Browning Varmint Stalker 1-14, 26" medium heavy barrel. I'm a meat hunter and prefer young antlerless. Head shots out to 100yds is all I'm after. Like you say I just gotta find the right bullet etc. I normally shoot a 30-06 but it's time for a change.
For coyotes I shoot Hornady Varmint Express 55grn and they do well out to 200. I'm hoping 55-60 in a hunting bullet will work well.

They make a 60 gr partition .Many deer fell to my dad's 55gr handloaded .222 in Ontario and three black bears .All one shot bang flops or short distance dash + crash.......Harold
 
I havent yet tried my 22-250 for deer but I picked up two boxes of Speer 70 grain Double Jacketed bullets designed for deer hunting with the 223. A friend of mine uses his and does well with it. He has taken many deer with these particular bullets loaded in his 223, I figure the 250 has more oomph than the 223 so why not load up and try it out. I am going to work up a load with the 70 grainers and if a chance presents itself to take a deer then I will.
 
I know a guy that shot a nice buck with one. It can be done. I wouldn't do it personally. A very small fast moving bullet might not always drive thru a shoulder or skull. I'd go with a well constructed bullet that will hold together. My rule is (not that it matters) I won't use a gun not capable of breaking both front shoulders of the game I'm after. I have a 25-06 for deer and 243 would be as small as I'd go personally. But the 22-250 is capable of wonderful things
