Vortex vs Bushnell quality?

I know the people at Vortex, they would not treat a customer in this manner. If the scope is no good call 1-866-343-0054. If it is broken, they WILL fix it.

All i know is that they did infact treat my friend this way, and i have never had a problem with bushnell.

In my eyes every ones experience could be different, if i were to buy a vortex i might get the same steller service others speak of on here, the fact remains that i have NEVER had a problem with bushnell service and they make a good product for the amount a person spends.

To each their own but for me i'll stick with bushnell.

Thats fine! I try to not be a brand basher, they are all good and they all have a bad one every once in a while. I respect your loyalty due to good customer service. I will not argue that with you, I was just making the point that Vortex will come good for your buddies scope. If he still has it, have him call in and get it replaced.

I don't even know if he still has it, he went back and forth with them for close to 8 months, got the same answer three times. I am not bashing anyones choice as except for the instance with my friend i have heard nothing but good things about vortex, but i do know he has tried multiple times to get the scope fixed or replaced.

Maybe they just don't like him i guess, but to each his own i guess.

Every bushnell i have every had problems with, 4 in total were fixed or replaced within 30 days, friend of mine bought a vortex that turned out to have a bent tube, so bad infact the scope could not be mounted.
Vortex called it customer abuse and refused to repair.

I agree that this doesn't make sense.

From Vortex
"We will repair or replace your Vortex product for any reason at NO CHARGE TO YOU. It doesn't matter how it happened, whose fault it was, or where you purchased it"

Something doesn't add up.
I bought a used Vortex Viper. And I lost one of the turret caps on my first outing. Phoned Vortex up to buy a new one and they just asked me for my address. In like 10 days I had a new turret cap, no charge. I was fully expecting to pay for it. Not even shipping costs.

I really like my Vortex scope. Quality is excellent.

Heard the same guarantee on their commercials but evidently they don't always do as they say they will.

For me i have seen the scope returned and not repaired so i will trust that over a companys commercial.

the Diamondback will out perform the 3200 and the Viper has a few more bells and whistles yet. Both the diamond back and viper are purged with argon vs the nitrogen in the bushnell tubes. dollar for dollar value, you get way more bang for your dollar in the Vortex line

the new ones from Bushnell are coming with argon but technically whatever (it is nitro or argon) they re telling this is a gas nothing else ....

Yes actions do speak much louder than words, no arguement there. Like I said, I know the people at Vortex, they will fix the scope if it is returned to them. I wonder if your friend talked to Vortex Canada, or was it the dealer not wanting to bother with a warranty claim?

i have a pst and a sparc. when the sparc arrived, from grouse river, it had a torn bikini cover. i phoned vortex and was told to pound sand, maybe not exactly those words, but i did not receive a new one.

I've got spares in stock.

Send brenda@oneshottactical.com and email and let her know you need one. We'll send you out a replacement.

I've dealt with Vortex warranty and it's the best I've seen. Tell your friend to send Brenda an email (same as above) and we'll get it sorted for you.

i own both a elite 3200 and a vortex viper and i think the viper is a way better scope vortex is on top of there game and may even be better then Leupold. my wife works at wholesale sports and i know the vortex warranty there is over the counter dont send it away just get a new one that day. to me thats better then any other optics company out there

a new one that day? from what inventory!

Correct. We do the same thing. If we have it in inventory we'll replace it ourselves.

Did you email Brenda for the covers?

i meant that It's not likely that wholesale sports would have a vortex scope in stock. thank you for your offer, i have since installed butler creek flip caps on the sparc.

What about the cheaper crossfires?
I'm looking for a 5x15 or bigger for my Mark II TR .22 that's coming
Only target shooting so I have to see the holes 25, 50, 100

The Crossfires are good for the money spent, but I would recommend you stay with the 4-16 as the optical quality drops a bit above that magnification range.

The trick with Vortex warranty or any warranty for that matter is to go back to your purchasing dealer, OST is a perfect example he has the repore with Vortex and will get done whatever needs getting done. Bottom line Vortex's warranty policy is right on there website, they will do what they say they will, but sometimes you gotta go through the proper channels...

Vortex Warranty said:
Our warranty is about you, not us. It's about taking care of you after the sale.

The VIP stands for a Very Important Promise to you, our customers. We will repair or replace your Vortex product for any reason at NO CHARGE TO YOU. It doesn't matter how it happened, whose fault it was, or where you purchased it. You can count on the VIP Warranty for all riflescopes, binoculars, spotting scopes and monoculars.
  • Unlimited Lifetime Warranty
  • Fully transferable
  • No warranty card to fill out
  • No receipt needed to hang on to
If you ever have a problem, no matter the cause, we promise to take care of you.

...Seems pretty straight forward to me.

As for comparison sake, I've always ran 4200 tactical's and I switched to the Viper PST line, Viper wins hands down in craftsmanship, materials and features. The glass I'd say is about the same, but Vortex may have a slight edge. I'll prolly never go back to Bushnell after using this Vortex scope it's simply better.
