Let's see some stocks for the M14 rifles ... everything and anything ... let's see what you got, like or want? I found a McMillan stock that I'd love but sure as hell nobody in CANADUH will have one ... :(

I've got one of Boyd's walnut stocks on mine, but it's ho-hum. The inletting is wonky on it, the liner isn't nice and flush with the receiver on one side (the inlet is too wide), and mags don't drop free and must be forcibly inserted. I load with stripped clips anyway, but it's annoying. It was also 90 bucks, so I can't complain too much. I plan to take some picture with it when I'm finally happy with the wood finish, but that's not going to happen for a few weeks.

So, for now, my contribution to the stock pr0n:

And the same stock, painted, with an adjustable comb...

Sadly, he will not deal with Canadians.

On that note, I was under the impression that McMillan didn't have a problem shipping stocks to Canada? I'd love to have one of those M3A ADJ's myself!

M14 Archangel/TROY battle rail

Just waiting on rings and the scope in the mail. This quality of this stock and the price ($310) is just simply awesome. I was a bit concerned at first fitting the stock to the reciever, but found it only took 10min of dremmel work. When I put the trigger group back in, locking the trigger gaurd down just pulled the stock and reciever together for a nice tight fit:cool:. Very impressed. Then I mounted the TROY battle rail cost me $250 thanks to Gas Can:cheers:. Again about 10min with carefull dremmel work on the stock and it was like these two were meant to be together. This TROY battle rail like Gas Can said is very solid, and it is. The stock and rail are very solid. Would highly recommend. The only draw back is the weight. I like a true tactical rig which is light and easy to pack around. This is not it weighs in at just over 12lbs. Scope will be a simple Bushnell 10x40 Mildot, rings will be EGW 30mm with 1" teflon inserts for positive scope tube alignment.

My shorty Norky has a stock I got from a fellow CGNer ... it's not a Norinco, nor a USGI as it has no stamping ... but it's really THICK so could it be a boyds?

Haha I only wish it was mine! If he ever decides to do business north of the border, I shall indeed let you know... after I place my order ;)

It is such a tease too, because he will even inlet the stocks for Norinco receivers!

Let's see some different stocks folks ... post'em if you got'em. I just surfed another M14 forum in the states ... it sucks that our border laws are so F'd up ... some beautiful wood stocks in birch, walnut, etc for sale for like $50 ... DOH!

My chu wood stock has 4 holes drilled in the side, and the front drainage hole is being held on with Elmer's wood glue. Want me to post a picture? The front sight is misaligned and the parkerizing on the gas system is beat up from me installing an NCstar m14 bipod on it. The side screw has been re-drilled/tapped to accept a giant ass screw to keep the mount super tight, and my chu wood goes down so low about 1/3rd of the trigger is covered up.

I didn't put this rifle in the dishwasher yet, but I'll do it if someone gives me $429.00

Despite all this, it's a pretty decent shooter.

not to derail the thread, but is the receiver supposed to be a little offset in the stock? Ie : stock wood thicker on the right side than the left(barrel facing forwards, towards target)?

now back on topic....
Otokiak, is that a mfs-14? how, where and dollars? pm if you want!

what do you have to do to prepare it for your rifle? I see on the mcmillian ws that you have to glass bed the action lugs?

I'm new to this m14s/m305 game and am trying to decide either sell or re-build mine.Bought it used , got a scope mount, shot it twice, incredibly unsatisfied with it and now its a safe (drag)queen.

Yes it is a McMillan folder, got it several yrs ago, Corlane Sports in BC ... cost was close to a grand. I need to bed it still, putting my norky shorty in it.

I would keep yours and spruce it up with other parts, stock, etc ... just my opinion ;)

Next time & if you are not a computer comando type. Try to stop by a sporting goods store that sells hockey equipment. Ask them for an helmet repair kit. then take the silver looking thing and place it into the gas vent whole in said stock. Now take your shooter's ridge or any other cheap harris style bi-pod and dill out the whole to line it up with the gas vent whole on your stock. Then simpley screw the bipod right on and you are good to go. Sorry O.P. just thought that I should jump in here to prevent any other people from going down that loneley road of clamp on barrel bipods.
Would you like me to post pic's to show you what mean?

Yes please do

Thanks

that "hole " in the forestock is NOT a 'GAS VENT HOLE" - it's there for DRAINAGE - the fact that it lines up with the gas system is just a COINCIDENCE- and the wood is slightly
thinner around it- you're FAR better off drilling out one of the rivets and setting a sling stud and t- nut in there- besides, it's closer to the centre of gravityin the 14 and won't throw the "balance" off so much- i don't know how many people that think it's a "gas vent " hole, BUT IT'S A MISCONCEPTION

True but most of the time you tell some 1 the drainage hole they look at you with a confused look on your face. As for drilling out the riviet it was way out of the question as I use the 1907. Now for the excate $25 bi-pod I use it is this;
