2011 CGN Saskatchewan gopher shoot. Thanks to everyone for coming!

Is somebody going to give a long drunken talk on how to reload the 22 long rifle cartridge ? :D

I'm bringing a trailer load of firewood BTW. The trailer isn't the biggest, but it'll be a decent contribution.

Edit: I just read that a ton of Sask roads and bridges are closed due to the flooding. Can anyone tell me if any of the areas where the roads are destroyed will effect our trip from Edmonton ? I don't know Sask that well.

No worries ....I put mudders and a lift on the one ton after the troubles we had two years ago ..............we'll make sure you get there

I'm not that familiar with Sask either, but it appears much of the flooding is on the eastern side of the province.... I think Captain is heading down there this weekend , so I'm sure he will report on the road conditions.

Last year we almost had to detour 2 hours due to the Trans Canada being closed past Medicine Hat. They at least had one lane open by the time of the shoot.

Unless something drastic happens between now and then there should be no problems between Edmonton and there.
Not sure if you are coming down the #2/#1 or over to the #41. (Or any of the many southbound highways in between) But i haven't heard of any bridges out anywhere...

It looks like the #1 is closed from the Manitoba border to Regina due to flooding. Sucks for us to the east. It looks like it's only a 65km detour if your take the Yellowhead though. So not too bad. The same thing happened last year and the road opened up just before we left. I'm crossing my fingers.

If anyone has the means to bring lumber I'd like to chip in for a few 12' 2x4s. I'm sure we'll need them for the shelter and I don't have the means to carry them.

Yeah i got no room for lumber :(

I will be going there SATURDAY after work...so I will report on road conditions, tho I expecct all should be in order :)

x2 on the chairs...try to steal my chair and I will feed you to Ernie!!!

ANY other questions or concerns?

Oh, and i must stress this right now: "This shoot isnt just about shooting gophers. Its about spending time with friends, watching Kevin303 fall on his ass, waking Davemachine up with explosives, mustache rides with BCLinehand, and Goats."

We have LOTS of land to shoot on, and if numbers are low we may have to venture a bit further than we have in the past. Its gonna be a fun time! I will know this weekend if theres gonna be really low numbers of gophers...so I can get scouting, and Ernie can show BCLinehand around as well!

I plan on making at least one trip into Tomkins (os Maple creek) during the week and will pick up some lumber there........3" deck screwws and a screwgun (powered driver and appropriate bits) would be good

If you plan on coming in on 16, let me know, we can start a convoy.

Last year Princess and I met a few local landowners, I understand that the Olsens sold their place, but Big Doug has more gophers than he can handle. Also, my neighbor here used to live a few miles south of the shoot and hooked me up with a few fellas. Shouldn't be a problem.

It's also a chance to get out and enjoy the always balmy Saskatchewan weather.

I really hope you're bringing that fogger again, Andrewe.
