Kimber TLE II

I love this gun, it's probably my favourite so far...

And if I had to take the Dalai Lama's voice (see my sig line), this is probably what I'd use.

Here's a matching original finish Colt :) Some things to check if buying one:

If these photos are helpful I might do a mini article with a few more pistols to check for originality.

Hey guys,

My latest 1911a1 project is a Remington Rand. This one is going to be a challenge, mix master parts, pitting, the whole 9 yards...

I will post pics later today. The last part I need is a correct RR Thumb Safety. If anyone has one in good shape (no pitting, finish not important) I will pay top dollar for it.

I will post pics of the project as it sits now and the finished product.

Here is the safety I need:

After a total redo: A simple fighting pistol to my specs.
-Complete external and internal redo with mild carry bevel. Series 80 bits GONE!
-Dark Matte Blue finish
-Factory barrel and bushing.
-Beveled mag well
-Colt Commander hammer
-AFTEC extractor
-Colt Commander extended ejector
-Medium Alloy trigger
-STI Beavertail
-STI SEAR
-STI Strong side safety
-Millett rear sight
-Custom front sight made from a blank with a flat brass bead
-USGI Checkered slide release
-Ed Brown Checkered mag release
-S&A 20 LPI MSH with lanyard loop
-Front strap 20 LPI with relief cut
-Lowered and flared ejection port
I don't say this lightly but the fit and finish are better than my Springfield PRO model, there is zero bite where the grip safety is fit, slide to frame fit is tight and even. Just need some matte grip screws. Will run her this weekend.

1918 "Black Army" pics

Thought someone might like to see this 1918 M1911. According to the former owner, it spent the past fifty years or so stored in a can of grease. Thanks to the grease, the metal is well preserved. However, it seems that the grease darkened and softened the walnut grips a little. The finish is original and has survived quite well considering that this gun has the poor quality "black army" finish used late in WWI.

It's all original as far as I can tell, except for the barrel. It should have a barrel with an H and a P visible on top of the barrel hood.

Buddy of mine bought a Colt SAA-clone not long ago as his first gun.

"That's gonna do for a while now, I don't want to spend too much money on guns!" were his first words on our way home from the gunshop.

But I know he likes the look and handling of surplus M1911A1's, and when I was at my favorite gunshop the other day I saw a real nice Remington Rand M1911A1 with lots of wear, *caugh* I mean character I sent him a picture.

Well, long story short. He just called the shop owner and got himself his second handgun.

I feel kinda bad for setting him up like this :D

Interesting.... if the serial number on that "Remington Rand" is 707### then the frame is actually a 1924 mfg Colt frame. Very early in the 1911A1 production to boot.

Just received this from a quiet CGN member. Thank you sir! This might just be the crown jewel for me. Pics still are not my forte. But I had to post a few anyway!

No noob scratch, bonus considering it was made in 1929.

WOW!! The nicest 1911 I've seen in this thread so far. I don't even want to know how much it's worth. Congrats

I'd have to disagree with you. GrantR's 1914 CEF Government Model is THE nicest pistol in this thread. If he were to post another picture or two of it, this thread could be locked forever and nobody could complain. (See post #2)
