Thought someone might like to see this 1918 M1911. According to the former owner, it spent the past fifty years or so stored in a can of grease. Thanks to the grease, the metal is well preserved. However, it seems that the grease darkened and softened the walnut grips a little. The finish is original and has survived quite well considering that this gun has the poor quality "black army" finish used late in WWI.
It's all original as far as I can tell, except for the barrel. It should have a barrel with an H and a P visible on top of the barrel hood.
