Shorten PAL Approval Times

Will the CFO fax my test scores to the rcmp if it hasn't been processed yet because of the strike. Sorry if this has already been answered but with this strike im confused on what is really going on with this.

My application was received at the Firearms Center May 24, appeared on the website a little after 2 weeks. Got my phone call today June 22 as did both references, and the website now says license issued.

Congrats... now you only have to wait for the snail mail strike to be over since I doubt they will courier out anything

Odds are they won't.. however you can ask and if they say no you can file a formal complaint since there is no good reason why they cannot do so.

Is there anyway to get an application sent off to them without going to a PO Box? I had to use puralator to get it home (for my references) and now I can't find anyone that will deliver to a PO box. It sounds like Canada Post will be back Monday but I just really wanted to get it moving as there will probably be a rush to them once the strike is over (which if Canada post is the only way I will just express it out to them and hope for the best).

Edit: I guess I should have looked at the previous page but here it is again anyway

The lady that I was speaking to said if the strike wasn't over by the time the license was "printed and proofed" that I could either wait or arrange for a courier to attend in New Brunswick and they would make the license available for pickup.

Was this for both PAL ans RPAL?

Hi, yes that was for both. I talked to the lady around noon, both my refs had been called by 12:30, they're pretty fast when they get started. Wow, is there is a certain accusatory tone when they ask you "you've indicated you want to purchase both non and restricted firearms, what is your reason for wanting to own restricteds?" I said target shooting and to support some employment applications where the rpal is a requirement, she wanted to know who I had applied with and did seem to be typing that into the computer.

My refs didnt report any weird questions beyond their need to "know if I had a pattern of using violence to solve my problems". My phone interview consisted of me spelling my name, verifying the mailing address and then going through the same mental illness/drug use/bankruptcy questions that were on the application, "no, no, no, no, no, no." Be sure you remember how you filled in your name, I have a second middle name that I never use and always forget about but its on the application and the call could go no further until I spelled it out after she hinted that was the problem. They do want to know exactly how long you've known you references and they did ask them them to confirm it.

She was certainly nice enough at the start and end of the call, some small talk "hows the weather in new brunswick/hows the weather in BC" etc, then they get all monotone and serious for the questions then its "have a nice day". The whole call wasn't even 5 minutes. Be sure to ask for the reference number at the end so your references can call in case they miss their phone call, they'll give you that and an specific extension number so they can call back.

That's amazing! Congrats to you! The only thing that bothers me is that I had sent my application in to the CFC and was received by them on May 19. I have already done my interview and both my reference's were contacted shortly after my interview. Guess ill just have to keep playing that waiting game.

FYI if you're anxious about getting your physical card CFC is willing to try and pull it from the mail pile and courier it to you at your own expense, i.e. on account or COD. Depending on how the CP filibuster goes I will be doing this Monday first thing.

Actually you should be able to make them do such at their expense since it is their job to issue and deliver such... you already paid your fee(s).

Just got off the phone with the CFC and said that my application is with the CFO of ontario right now, do you guys recommend me calling them?

Depends on how long. Mine was approved in less than a week at the Ontario CFO. I think they are pretty quick. Mine was approved 2 weeks ago. Just waiting for the mail now.....

My RPAL has been processed and went to the CFO. I called the CFO today and they said it is now valid and I should be getting it in the mail in two to three weeks. If I call back and get my RPAL number though, is this enough to go into a store and buy a firearm, or do I need to get the physical card before I can purchase one?
