Set Screw Size on CZ858 NEA Railed Upper Forend

Set screws?

You lost me. The railed upper for the CZ cams tightly into position via forked ears that are placed underneath notches on the gas block. The rear is then fixed in place by a captive push pin.

As mentioned, this configuration not only retains zero but is notoriously tight.

Are you possibly referring to another part? The lower handguard perhaps?

The NEA handguard has threaded holes for set screws on the front, over the gas block, and on one of the rear legs. These can be used to compensate for worn finish on guns/rails, differences in upper handguard pin hole diameter, and for the inconsistency in VZ external dimensions.

Both of mine have worn-in, mostly due to paint wear on the rear sight base, and I use the set screw on the rear to make up for slight wiggle in the rail.

If you have to force your rail into pin alignment, and it's not because of tight fit on the rear sight area, your gas block is too tall where the rail fits over it.

To the OP, sorry I don't know what the thread is, but it's pretty standard. I've found machine screws that fit in my junk box.

you can always take the rail to homedepot and see which set screw will fit.

my earlier rail did not have a hole for the set screw but my newer gen 3 & 4 does.

for those who use the rail for their FSN , you will find that due to the use of bluing the rear sight block will be a bit narrower then the painted blocks so your rail will be loose . i use an adhesive aluminium foil , i cut it to the shape on each insides (see pen below).

Interesting.

My Gen 2 does not. Thanks Curton.
