I just got back from the range with my mini-14 581 series. Got some good result and some deception.

I was eager to try the federal gold match 69 gr., turn out my mini really prefer 55gr federal v-shock. got some preatty satisfing resulte.

The bad well not last trip but the one before, i was having trouble ejecting shell and sometimes it would eject it but at a weird angle, hit the scope and jam on the bolt! I playd a bit with the extractor, oild it couldnt find anything wrong, pout it back together and it workt good for 60-80 or so and it started back today! Now I don't know what to do about it.

But anyway here are some pics off the grouping it did minus the shot to the left witch wasent fired with that group at 100 yards.

what do you think?

Nice shooting. Mine shoots about the same, or perhaps a shade better with my handloads. I find that mini's really benefit from reloading and discovering the load that really works well in them.

It seems the mini and the m14 share this problem with scope mounts , if i remember correctly i believe you can trim you ejector spring to change the throw angle .

However before that i would try using a factory ruger magazine , if you havnt already. theres lots of talk on the internet forums for mini14s stating how alot of aftermarket magazines have issues.

Thanks for the report and keep us posted on the shell ejecting issue.

No problem, if i could get my hand on a box of 55gr, fereral gold match i'm pretty shure I could get even better groups. but for now il stick with the v-shock. About the ejector, I playd with it for like an hour last time and the gun work good for 60 round or so, but I wasent able to dismentle the ejector. Anytrick on how to take it appart?

Try the 55gr PMC ammo - mine is the target version so different stock, barrel, and damper but those come out consistently at 1 MOA.

An adjustable gas block will allow you to tune which area code the brass lands in - and it can even be the same one (on the bench if shooting from one).

Pretty much proves what I have been saying about the newer Mini 14s for years...

I'll take mine over any AR 15 any day.

i've got the exact mini and mag. My mag had several misfeeds. When you press the follower down, right as it comes almost to the top, it hesitates causing my last round to misfeed 3/5. With my ruger factory mags and an unknown stainless mag, i had zero misfeeds. I have had zero ftf and stove piping as I also have a scope mounted. My mini ejects with authority with a true 90 degree side ejection. One issue with my mini is that my extractor plunger is rubbing on a closed bolt and you can see it clearly on the bolt and extractor. I know its only a matter of time before mine goes. Im new with mini's so hopefully the mini gurus can chime in.

Iv hade zero miss feed me. To bad of the mag restriction, you could desasemble the mag and see whats catching!
