Might the world wide collectors markets see anything from this arab spring?

With much of the middle east and africa moving from dictatorship to "other setups" during these recent uprisings, might the firearms collectors markets see any significant stock come out of government storage as these cash strapped governments try to liquidate some of the stock these countries are sure to have?

Long term, might we see things like crates of FN-49's coming out of Egypt that were long forgotten in warehouses etc?

pffft, The UN or america will give them food or support in return for scrapping them. No governments are friendly to cheap guns anymore, In my humble relatively unknowledgable opinion anyways.

I don't know man, food and support sound good for the people, but when it comes to it, the dollar is more important to governments.

Not with the Third World Debating Club being busy trying to end the international arms trade. You wouldn't want an Egyptian FN-49 anyway. Rode hard and not put away, wet or dry. Third World troopies are notoriously hard on their issue kit.
If any milsurps surface they won't be coming here. Government interference and the huge market, Stateside. FN-49 mags would have to be pinned to 5 first too.

I wonder why we haven't yet seen the "containers" of Enfield wood/parts that John (Marstar) was eluding to.
With Greece 's economy in the ####tank , you would think they'd be after any dollar they could get.

Greek made HXP ammo is good stuff, I got a pile of 303 a while back. Wish I bought many more crates.

the USA will just trade the guns for food and support and the USA will take them and give them to the next enemy country to fight them with so they can invade that country to.

"...you would think they'd..." It isn't the Greeks. It's the Third World Debating Club's treaty.
"...Wish I bought many more..." I believe most of it went Stateside. CMP's been selling M2 ammo for a few years.
"...Why?..." Hard faced armour plate for gongs. You'd need a plasma cutter though.

Yes, back when it was legal, I used to buy LOTS of ammo through the Shotgun News magazine. I had it shipped to a place in WA state very close to the border.
It used to average aboout US$100 per thousand for most milsurp corrosive in various calibres. I generally got 8x57 and .303.
The Greek HXP was probably a bit more as it was non corrosive and reloadable. Maybe $150 per thousand maybe. I forget exactly.
