New Toy! Big thanks to John at Wolverine Supplies... range update.

Like an AR it is the lower that is registered, John at Wolverine is very reluctant at bring in the shorter uppers, simply because he doesn't want to see anyone taking a short upper on none restricted lower out in the woods and get themselves into trouble, that might lead to a reclassification of all XCR.

Under that logic, if you have a hacksaw in your trunk...

well, due to a lack of logic there are people out there thinking that since the it is the lower that is registered, they can disregard the length of the upper.

Because barrel length has nothing to do with classification. :HR:

Took it out to the range today, shot 200 rounds as part of the "break-in" process, the only thing came loose was the MI front sight, had more than a few light hammer strikes, I think it has the lighter .223 hammer spring installed in stead of the heavier 7.62 hammer spring, I'll swap it out with the one from my rifle, while I order another one from Wolverine.

Using Czech surplus ammo I had no problem with cycling with the gas setting all the way down to 1, where as my full length XCR will only work at setting 3, I did notice the gas port of the dial are way larger on the pistol than the one on my rifle.

The 10 round mag worked fairly well, there were a few incidents where the first round will not feed properly, loading 9 instead of 10 rounds seems to bypass that issue.

Shooting 7.62 x 39 out of a 7.5" barrel was absolutely the most obnoxious experience I ever had on the range, it was LOUD, very noticeable kick and the muzzle flash was the size of a prize winning pumpkin, It was everything I always wanted :D

2nd range trip today another 200 rounds of 7.62x39 as fast as I can load the mags, using full 10 round pistol mags with no FTF or FTE at all, checked all the bolts during the cleaning routine nothing came loose at all. as to the previous trip's light hammer strike problem, turns out it was due to the hammer spring legs sitting in the wrong location.
