Did Ruger change the size of their Mini 14 .223 clips when they brought out the Target Mini 14 or are they all inter-changeable? I bought an older metal (10/5) clip at a gun show today that is supposed to be for a Mini 14 but it is too wide for my Target model and it has a larger lug on the back end.

Ruger mini 14's do not take a "clip". They use a magazine. Just thought that I would straighten that out before someone gives you a good flaming on here. All of them are interchangeable amongst the different mini's.

The Ruger clips...er...magazines....(whatever!) all all interchangeable between the mini's and the targets.

Potato...pawtato...tomato...tawmato with regard to those whom really have nothing better to add than to correct us simple folk. Magazines are for readin'...clips are somethin' fer holding paper together. Them's just bullet shell holder thingy's.

Do we all understand each other now? :D :p

Just a heads up...could it be that you got a mag for the mini 30 by accident? It shoots the 7.62 x 39 cartridge and looks very much the same-until you try to stuff it into the mini 14 of course. A thought I had while I read your original question.
