Crossman American Classic 1377 for bunnies?

I was recently given a brand new American Classic 1377 .177cal pump air pistol and 500 hollow point pellets...it says on the package that it shoots 495FPS...I don't think it actually shoots THAT speed but is it enough for rabbits? If so...what range and what pellet type do I use?

IF it cannot...I don't want it. I know in stores they sell for $99.99 and 500 pellets is about $15...add taxes to both of those and its about $120ish. If I was to ask $65 SHIPPED for it all...is that a decent deal considering its NEW and unused..just opened is all.

well i cant say if it will take rabbits

i took a few squirrels with mine hollow points are something that should not be used

i used crosman pointed pellets and took hart/lung shots

at under 500fps you want as much penetration as you can get and hollow points dont do much in airguns under 500fps

x2 I've had one of these for about 23 years and wouldn't even attempt to guess how many pellets I've put through it. I've done the seals only once, but then again, 90% of the shooting I've done with mine happened in the first 5-6 years. I also have the cheap plastic stock (1399) for mine, came as a combo back in the day. Anyhow, while it has a fair bit of punch for an air pistol, I'd say "no" to the rabbit idea myself. The largest thing I ever shot with mine was a crow, once. It did the job admirably, but I had a great angle on him and he wasn't far away either. So again, "no" to the rabbit idea, but I'd be awfully tempted to keep that pistol if I were you. For what you'll get for it, might be a fun companion backpacking/fishing/camping whatever. They're accurate guns with lighter pellets, not too hard to get a stock and small scope on it either.

yep i have a holster for mine i carry it when hunting with my crossbow (for big game) so when i see a squirrel i can pop it with the pellet gun so i dont have to go looking for a bolt

its one of the best air guns ive had if i where the OP id keep it theres all kind of affter market stuff for it longer barrels, stocks, scope mounts, ect

I've been looking for one for awhile now.
 
I was planning on shooting a beaver that is living under my shed and eating my vegateble garden! also there is a mink/weasel that has been eating the fish in my pond! would that be enought to kill them. is it CO2 of pum i forgot.

Get a 2289 (Backpacker) .22 cal.

But even though we are not supposed to shoot .177 in the back yard since i am in the city wouldn't a .22 be much lowder?
i mean i wanted an air rifle since it is quite and a bit more discreet, i have a .22 firearm is that what you are referring to?
 
never mind i just saw one and it looks kind of like a target rifle? but i did not know you could shoot a .22 with an air pump rifle can imagin its strong enough?

I sincerely doubt you have a beaver living under your shed, eating your veggies.

A ground hog maybe, but HIGHLY unlikely a beaver is living under your shed.

And no, that particular airgun will likely not even phase a beaver.

its a .22 pellet...its not a .22 rimfire round. It is NOT strong enough...it would be if you got an air rifle that shoots over 495fps but you have to register them as firearms.
