I think the source of this argument/misunderstanding is the military nomenclature.
The C7 is a selective fire Canadian version of the M-16 rifle. Tiriaq is right that likely no cadet unit will hold these, much less fire them.
There was a semi auto 22 caliber version of the C7 rifle made for the cadets by Diemaco. However, by the time it came out, it was too late. Between the anti-gun climate of the government, along with the closing of the indoor ranges due to lead contamination, the C10s disappeared into the abyss of the depots.
The Cno7 is the later nomenclature for the .22 cal version of the Cno4mk1* rifle. Some units may still have theirs, but in all likelihood, they will all be withdrawn in the next while and the rifles will be either placed in depot stock, converted to Drill Purpose, or else sent to the smelters.
