The feel and quality of the mags is on par with the HK factory mags. The finish is very good and clean. The only rough part is a small spot where the plastic is injected into the mold. The mags insert easily and drop free when released. They have a strong follower spring and engage the bolt hold open after the last round. The mags fed flawlessly. A key point about the mags is that these will fit a standard SL8 without the need to remove the tabs in the receiver. The mags have an indent just like the HK 5 round factory mags.

The only issue I had with the smoke colour is that it is a bit dark. You can see through them if you look closely. A couple shades lighter would have been perfect.

No pics from the range, but I had a chance to take a few product shots.

I have to agree. I took my new mags for a trip to the range a week or so ago and they worked well. Yes, the colour is a little dark and they are a little less translucent than I'd like but that's pretty minor, how they perform is much more important. I am curious as to why they didn't include the HK style clips though, probably a patent thing.

It kinda puzzle's me why they decided to make SL8 mags. Being a Kiwi company, I would have thought they would sell a lot more AR/AK mags. I'm hoping they start rolling out AR mags because they relatively rare over here

I believe I have 10 of these spear mags. I am a fan. I leave the factory hk one in the safe now and take these out all the time. All of them work great. I have both the 10 and 30s. the color doesnt bother me because there is only 5 rounds anyways and a whole lot of nothing underneath.
