Hi all:

New to guns -- recently did my CFSC and OHEC. I am looking forward to getting all of my paperwork through, mostly for the purposes of hunting, but I am also interested in shooting sports and target practice. I also look forward to doing my restricted ASAP as well.

Looking forward to meeting people in the sport -- are there any members of Silverdale or HAHA on this forum? I would be interested in hearing your opinions.

I am a member of silverdale and I love it. The staff at silverdale and lanz(sponsor and on-site gun shop) are fantastic. They will answer any question you may have and are truly nice people. The same goes for the members and RO's there too. You can try it out first with a day pass but I am sure you will join, I have talked to members from mississauga who come down because they like it so much.

Good luck and get your RPAL ASAP, restriced guns are so much more fun at the range :ar15:

Welcome!

I am a recent transplant to the Hammer and I am waiting for memberships at Wentworth and HAHA, but I will be trying out Silverdale

Correction... all guns can be fun.. and the idea of a "restricted" is crap dreamed up by the anti's.

Otherwise well said.

How does haha have sily/stupid rules? I happen to be a director there. Are you a member there ? have you ever been a member there ?

No offense but while it is by no means is it the biggest offender for such but it has a reputation for such things.

I am not a member but have been there.. and have spoken with a good # of others whom are and/or have been... Including many on CGN and such has been pointed out in other threads when discussing various ranges.

Things such as implied rules of 5 rnd cap for handguns... days that do not allow center fire and handguns... implied rule about rapid fire.. etc

Thank you for your input, we are always trying to make our club one of the best in ontario. Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. FYI the 5 rnd cap has been changed to mirror the laws set out in the firearms act. The centerfire shoot times are set out by the bylaw in the area. We are currently building a separate cowboy action shooting range, and 5 stand. If anyone has comments or suggestions please feel free to pm me . Thanks

Np at all.. and I admire that.

However there is no law for a 5 rnd cap either fed (FA), prov or by-law in the H-W area... so where did that come from? (You do fall into the H-w area)

I did not do RPAL at the same time because I did the PAL and OHEC over a weekend... I plan on doing the RPAL next time it is offered near me.

Who is members at Silverdale? When is a good day to go for a meet n greet / tour the grounds?

Ive been going to HAHA for about a year now and have nothing but nice things to say about the place.

If only being allowed to load 5 rounds into a magazine for your pistol is the only complaint you have, you are doing fine...and as Mitch has stated it is a thing of the past now.

As one of the guys I shoot skeet with said to me once..."I've been shooting a long time...no matter where I go to shoot, I always find myself back here."

All the clubs and ranges in this area are fantastic and i would love to be a member of them all, but like said previously, I always find myself going back to HAHA.

I just did my orientation at HAHA, the facilities are great and the director was a really good guy. I am looking forward to shooting there.

I am a member of silverdale. This is my first year as a member - just did day passes on weekends last year.

To the person that asked what day is best to go see it. Either day on the weekend. Lotsa people there to talk to and $20 gets you a visitors pass and the ability to shoot for the day. Weekdays store only open to 6 and no walk-ons unless u know a member.

I'm going tonight I think. Need to shoot my new JR Carbine.

Mike
