SKS Front Sight Tool Problem

Recently, I bought a sight adjustment tool similar to this one:

TAK-B-250x250.jpg

I can adjust the elevation no problem, but when I go to adjust the windage, I can't seem to figure it out. The pin will move to the left just fine, but not to the right. From what I can tell, when I go to adjust to the right, the tool doesn't line up correctly, and so rather than sliding through the hole, the pin catches.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here. Hopefully I was clear in my description. I'll try and get some pictures up to better show the problem.

Well, I paid $10 for such a tool plus $10 for mail and handling, and it is a piece of crap. The supplier at this point shall be nameless. I have a '51 Tula and a '53 and the tool does not adequately push the X pin with the front sight because the other side of the tool stops the pin from moving. I have ground my tool to try and adapt it to function but it is border line. You must ensude that the end of the pin X pin on the side that you want to move the sight is not stopping it, the X pin should be seen clear of nthe hole in the tool opposite the driving bolt.

The supplier has a paid advert at the top of this page and is on the west coast.

Caveat Emptor!

Good luck.

I found when I had did the adjustment, I shot off a number of rounds first, that heated up the sight block enough for the pin to move.

Mine worked fine once I used some WD-40 on the front sight and broke it free with a hammer and punch... It was pretty stuck in place to begin with
