I just use hoppes. 2 step with solvent then lube. It takes me one solid hour to get the gun apart and cleaned. That doesn't include lubing back up and putting back together. Never tried with boiling water but Im gonna give it a whirl next time I actually shoot a long gun.

When I'm done shooting, I spray diluted Javex, then Windex, then WD-40, down the barrel. Let it drain out, while I pack up, and take it home. Strip it down, use Hoppes and rags to clean, dry solvent up and apply some WD-40 and put it back together. No rust and always runs right. Takes a long time, so I'm open for options. SKS trigger group has always been a bich to get back in.

I used to do a LONG process simular to yours...used to take around an hour to do. NOW...I have a mini spray bottle of Windex I keep in my range bag and I spray my rifle (CZ 858) barrel and gas port with it and let it soak while still warm for a few mins after I am done shooting it. Once I am home I break it down again and put it all into my basement sink and pour hot water all over the parts and down the barrel...I do a bit over over kill but I do it twice with a total of 4L of BOILING hot water from a kettle. After that...I use G96 and clean it normally and it has been problems free and I can do it all in about 20-25mins and its all done with alot less elbow grease.
