Put my cam(s) out in June to see what I have to look forward to in Sept. when archery starts for whitetail.

Let them sit for a month and retrieved my pictures today.

Found a big brown fuzzy bum.

What are others folks take on the size of the critter.

Photo one and two are there for comparisons, also from this year. Please ignore the time stamp, it reset itself for unknown reasons when I put it up.

Haven't ever pursued bears before, I usually just watch them, but I could change my ways!;)

Here is a mediocre buck from last year for comparison

Nice birch trees, hardly see them around here anymore they are all dead.

What is the distance from the foreground weeds to the tree? It looks to me like the brown guy is much closer to the weeds (possibly by as much as 10 feet or more) meaning closer to the camera ... if the bear was 40% closer to the camera than the black one was, that could easily explain it's apparent size.

Either way though, I'd say he's a pretty good size .. probably bigger than average, but not once in a lifetime LARGE!.

The spot they are in wouldn't fit two bear side by side, the camera itself isn't 20ft away from that tree, probably closer to 15ft.

They are pretty much standing in one anothers tracks.

Then based on the size of those Bucks and the Black bear ... I'd say that's one monster that you caught the tail end of!!! I'd guess it's almost twice the size of the other one ...

I superimposed the first 3 pics over each other, and the brown one is the same height at his hind quarters as the spine of the grazing deer (pic1)... The smaller black bear's nose (pic2) is only just above the brown's back as well.

He doesn't have the right shoulders or coat to make me think he's a grizzly, but he's certainly big enough when compared to a whitetail and a black bear. He'd make one hell of a great rug!!!

I think you need some bear bait and more pics :)

Nice sized bear. Hard to tell but I'd say it would go P&Y for sure. There has been the odd Griz spotted in the Fort La Corne area, but I doubt that's one of them.
