Its a 590A1 with ghost ring and 18.5" bbl. If you have sighted one in I would love to know what you settled on for slugs. What was your acceptable accuracy and at what range? That will give me a benchmark and hopefully save me some cost and lots of pain.

winchester rackmaster 2 3/4" slugs at 100 yards. Ten of them should land in a 9" group with more than 5 of them in a 6" circle.

A slug gun isn't any different that a rifle. You have to try a box of as many brands as you can to fin dthe ammo your shotgun shoots best. Even a smooth bore.
Some ammo will go into 3 to 4 inches at 100. Some will do 2".

My go to slug is the 3" Rottweil Brenneke, although I do use others from time to time like 2.75" Challengers, and both Winchester and Federal slugs. There is no advantage to the 3" version of the Brennekes, they just happen to be the ones I was able to get at the time, and a 3" shell reduces the gun's capacity by one. I don't do a great deal of shooting with this thing as I prefer a rifle, but it does see regular use throughout the year.

I use the shotgun for a very specific purpose, it is my close to town bear gun, so reaching out to 100 yards is not that important. Shooting prone, the guns prints about 3" @ 50 yards.

Before the Benelli M4 replaced my Mossberg 590 I had it sighted in at 25 yards. Get a slug dead on at 25 yards and you are good to go with most buckshot, check ammo in your gun to see what it likes. Zeroed at 25 yards I have no problem hitting milk jugs standing from 100yards with slugs. The shotgun is very accurate with the right loads. Mine prefer Winchester 2 3/4 slugs or magnum buckshot.

My 20" 590 is sighted at 50yds with Federal Tactical slugs and shoots Federal Tactical buckshot to POA at 20yds. Seems like a reasonable setup for my needs. The FliteControl wad in the buckshot loads is very effective. Out to 20yds, it patterns almost as well out of the stock 590 barrel as pre-FlightControl loads did out of the VangComp barrel on my 870.
