Am I the only one around that doesn't like polymer aka non metal/ wood guns. I love my 1911, Browning Hi-power and my revolvers. I've had my buddies persuade me to try their glocks, their SIG 226's and I didn't like them. Am I the only one who hates combat tupperware?

As far as I know, Sigs aren't polymer frame guns. I can sympathize with you though. I have tried various Glocks in the past and they don't do anything for me. The grip is what bothers me the most, I like the slightly more right-angled grip of my 1911. Wheel guns nice as well, except for some of those long and/or heavy barreled ones.

All the being said, I can't see myself ever buying a Glock but Sigs interest me. In the end it all comes down to personal preference (Obviously).

I used to like all steel gun, no alloy and must not plastic, But now I thought I was just pain silly because my mind and my view didn't open up as a shooter. Don't limit yourself to learn.

I was on the same playing field as you, bud...all steel, no plastic what-so-ever. As soon as I fired my first polymer-frame handgun (HK USP), it was all over for me. I actually enjoyed shooting this "plastic" gun! Everything that I thought I would hate about 'em, I actually liked. I have since added a few HKs to my collection, including an HK black rifle, and am currently in the market for my first Glock purchase.

Maybe you haven't found the right one yet...keep trying as many as you can...there has to be one that will probably come to like.

I have a S&W M&P 9mm which, in my opinion, is an awesome handgun and highly regarded by LEO's and the shooting community. It doesn't feel like tupperware to me ! it fills a particular niche that all other handguns represent. I also own a 1936 .38 Enfield that is also a great gun ! To each his own I guess...

I almost bought a Glock this spring, just to see what the fuss is about. I used to trash them just cause I didn't like them (although to be honest, I've never even held one). I didn't end up buying one, but I'm not going to say anything bad about them anymore.

Here's why: I'm a recreational shooter, nothing more. I like to shoot a pistol that feels good to me and is fun to use. I'm a 1911 nut, there is no better pistol for me. I've tried others and they just don't do it for me. I'm not military, law enforcement, etc. Arguments that others perform better than a 1911, and that my life may depend on it, fall on these deaf ears. To me its strictly a hobby.

If my 1911 fails, I pack up my stuff and go home, or fix it and keep shooting. If others want to shoot polymer, or whatever, power to em. I don't care for them but I'm not going to hold it against you if you do.

That being said, I may still try a Glock sometime, but haven't found the right one yet.

Well I didn't really hate plastic guns, but they didn't appeal to me until a trade opportunity came up to trade my Smith Wesson 17-3 (.22 lr revolver) for a Glock 17 RTF.

Glad I did. In fact, I wish I'd tried polymer guns long ago and regret all the lost years not enjoying these plastic guns.

I can't stand the plastic guns. They always feel top heavy, I like it to be better balanced. Also, I haven't found one with a decent trigger (other than a STI/SVI which is full of custom parts), always seem to have a 5 lbs or higher trigger pull with lots of creep, and/or a goofy lock in the middle of the trigger.
Just my 2 cents.

Have owned and shot polymers, just can't warm to them. Carried a hi-power, will love them(I've had 3) till I die. If I had to carry it would be a double action steel frame(probably CZ)
The best group I ever shot in my life was with a Glock 17, and you can still keep it.

Really like my SR9, love my 1911. Got a Mk1 Ruger, an M93, and a Tokarev, and like them all too. They're all very different, which is what I wanted.
