As previously mentioned here, no cartridge is technically banned. This is the common thread of an AR-variant. "AR variants" in all calibres,
(even most that just look like one, in 308 Win, 9mm, or 22 LR from the ground up??) are restricted here. This is common knowledge.
There is even a 50 BMG Ferret upper single shot bolt action barrelled action, and because it fits onto an AR lower receiver , it's restricted too because of the original chassis is still the AR.
It's Canadian firearms law, and no it does not have to make any sense.
