I just bought and mounted a Diamondback 4x12x40AO --- it has the Dead Hold BDC. The glass seems much better than my 3200 Bushnell and more bells and whistles. Anyway, what is your experience with the BDC feature -- does it work -- accuracy -- gimmick?
Thanks, John

Yes they work I have the same on my 17hmr and the viper 6.5-20x50 on my .223.
I also compared it to a guy's Bushnell but his was the 4200 and the vortex class was more than a little better. I am not to thrilled with Bushnell anymore to be honest, and the warranty for Vortex is an added bonus.

Come back in 6 months and tell us how did the BDC help you.

I like the BDC on my Vortex rifle scopes, however they are not pre-calibrated to any specific caliber or load. You have to "shoot them in", by this I mean get your load to where you want it and then through trial and error find out where the hold over points become valid. Write them doen and then make a chart and tape it to your stock, that way it is always there for quick reference!

Go to the Vortex website and follow the link to their ballistic calculator(LRBC)...after you input you load, you can click a button and it will tell you what distances your BDC are for. Great system.
