tactipull or ranger base pads

Hi guys I'm looking for some tactipul or ranger plates for my LAR-15 mags anyone know who sell them? i thought queststar did, but all i can find on their site is couplers.... any ideas guys?
 
I am going to suggest going with something other than the Tacpulls. I have broken 5 of them, and others I shoot with have broken them as well. When they break, usually the hard plastic gets driven into your hand........not nice. Go for the ranger plates!

really? i've never heard of them breaking thanks for the heads up. my "problem" is that you have to buy the ranger plates in packs of 3 and i have 4 mags... i suppose i could just buy 2 more mags and solve that problem... or sell the other 2 on the EE... or keep them for spares.... but that would just make too much scense lol
 
Ranger Plates

Never having handled the Tactipulls, I can't talk about their reliability, but I have had some experience with the Ranger Plates on the LAR-15s, and would go that route again if I still had any LARs.

The only "issue" with the Ranger Plates is that once installed, they will limit the capacity of the LARs to 9. This can be overcome by dremelling 5mm of the bottom of each end of the follower, which will allow you to load 10 and still seat the mag on a closed bolt.

The 10 shot LAR doesn't really need the full length of the anti-tilt follower, so it does not cause any issues, but throw away your original base plates, to stop you from being tempted to put them back on, as you may run into capacity issues,if you know what I mean.

thanks there was a thread a little while back about how to modify the plate itself so you don't have to modify the follower, but i can't find it, but hopefully i remeber the gist of it.
 
I remember a thread about modifying the base plate a while back, but I seem to recall it being about modifying the Tactipulls, and the outcome was to dremel off a bit on the tab inside the baseplate to stop the mags bulging and allow them to drop free.

If you come across a thread to modify the Ranger Plates, post it here, I don't need it (no LARs), but others might find it useful.

Better yet, take photos while you do it, and post them as a how to.

ya your right that was the thread i was thinking of.... hmmmm well i'll figure it out. for now i used electrical tape and coupled 2 mags together and it actually seems like it might work. if it does i'll let ya all know.
