But that is exactly what you (or Jeff) did in post #10 and that is the only reason I entered this thread.

I never discounted your product, in fact I repeatedly said that I have no idea what the quality is. My objection was when and how you used LMT as your comparator.

Milspec is just that, milspec. It by no means implies greater quality, effectiveness, or durability - only that the product can be ISO approved for gov't bid.

In the last 3 months I've read threads where end users had problems with H&K, Knights, LMT, so do we think that they are bad rifles? No. We're not stupid.

I personally can't wait to see how this rifle performs and hold up over time. Let's not let our massive egos get in the way of progress here folks.

Simmer down before we make you guys hug it out. :p

And, on that note, I am excited about these NEA rifles and I am wanting one very much.

Reading through the thread, I think everybody's excited :)

A couple of questions are still standing out for me, some or all of which have already been asked but haven't been answered as fully as my curiosity would like.

1. Can we get more details on this "chrome alternative" process? Specifically I'd like to know a bit about what it actually is, including if it's a treatment (like QPQ Nitriding) or a coating like chroming. Are there plans to treat any other parts of the rifle besides the barrel? Are there plans to offer this process as a treatment for other firearms sent to you? More details on its properties compared to nitriding and chroming would be nice, you say it's far beyond, which of course makes us curious. But, if this whole process is TOP SECRET you can just let us know that too so I won't expect answers ;)

2. You say the warranty is 3 years for the complete rifle, and lifetime for the upper and lower. What isn't covered by the lifetime part? This is a question of ignorance. Would the rail not be covered, for example? Or the sights on the upgraded version? Just out of curiosity.

3. The information may not be available yet, but I'm sure everyone wants to know how much more the upgraded version will cost, and how much more the monolithic upper version will cost.

4. Oh yes, and we're still pic hungry (as you know :) )

I read some debate on the difference between 6061 T6 and 7076 T6

Here are the hard numbers for comparison:

MA6061t6

MA7075T6

The tensile strength and shear strength of the 7076T6 is much higher than 6061 T6. When the darn thing kabooom I want a receiver with more tensile strength in front of my face. The upper is already thinned out with the flattop already. The 6 series is used in the old ARs with the charging handle - before the 80's or something. Lower...I don't care but for the upper I want 7076T6.

I'd be very suprised if a un upper made of 7076 contained a catastrophic *KABOOM* much better than a 6061 upper. The pressures we are talking about are enormous. 3x more strength means very little when we are dealing with forces that are measured in multiple orders of magnatude in power above what the rifle was designed for.

If she's going to blow, she'll blow.
