Shorten PAL Approval Times

due to the varying mileage that members get with respect to obtaining anything from the Ontario CFO - is there ideal process to adhere by when calling and requesting your PAL#?

Simple.. call em up.. and ask for it since the card has not arrived yet and the CFC has rules for them to not release such. However others have obtained that # from the CFO previously. Not hard to do since this is not against any of their BS policy etc.

OK. that was easy. politeness goes a long way. got my number.
I was told it was printed last Thurs ... enroute now. WOOT!
shopping time!

i agree you not only have to be polite but also firm. if i didn't call like 5 times today nothing would of been fixed. it's a long process still kick myself for not getting it done years ago.

anyone successful in calling the CFC/CFO after their PAL is issued and obtain their PAL# over the phone?

are they able to disclose this info?

BC CFO had no problem giving me my PAL# over the phone. I used that number to buy a shotgun from a sponsor which arrived 2 weeks before my PAL card.

Ontario mileage may vary. :bsFlag:

Just to clarify, you can buy a firearm without your PAL physically in hand? So if something happened, from a legal standpoint, all you are required to give is the # and you are good to go?

... and all the ladies there are extremely nice and pleasant.
It's the policies they work under that are stifling.
The ladies have always tried going the extra mile for me. :)
My boyish charm?
I even got a couple of weekend passes (STATTs) to shoot at the club before by LT-ATT arrived.

Indeed most of the basic workers are very nice.. but not all. And the senior staff though is a very different story.

Online it can be done.. but some retailers want a scan of the card etc.. ymmv

hmmm, I'll have to ask as I already have a down payment on a Mossberg 500 combo with the three barrels. The shop (Valley Gunsmithing in Petawawa) was awesome to deal with so hopefully I can pick it up sooner than I thought.

Aside from purchasing, do I need to have the actual card at the range/transporting for a non-restricted

You cannot pick it up ahead etc or transport w/o the actual card.
