Disgusting Hunting Video on Youtube

We don't know how much time elapsed from the first shot to the finishing shot. But the common practice of lighting a smoke and waiting for an animal to stiffen allows much time for suffering during this "stiffening" process. How would hunters who use this approach look if the deer was videoed from the time it lay down until it was finished, and was posted on youtube? The internet could be what spells the end of sport hunting. I dislike overt displays of joy over the killing of a game animal, this is unseemly and tasteless. To me the killing of a great game animal should be a moment of somber reflection, but that's just me.

That is to prevent the animal from running when you track it. It will lay down and die instead of running off to suffer or die far off where you will never find it. This guys animal was not going anywhere and he still took his sweet a$$ time.

Anyone who has hunted over a long period of time will experience a shot that disables, but does not kill immediately.
Under those circumstances, it is the responsibility of the hunter to end it's suffering as quickly as is humanly possible.
To delay the dispatch in order to be able to take a video, is unconscionable.
If we take on the responsibility of harvesting an animal, accompanying that choice is the caveat that we will not allow any animal to suffer needlessly.
I would hope that this video will not be taken as a representation of what hunters/hunting is all about.
Regards, Eagleye.

Let it stiffen should be rephrased for political correctness.

Let it expire without stressing or causing the animal to run would sound better.

Typically in my experience they will crawl just into some cover and lay down and then quietly and quickly die when hit fatally.

You go after them , they will bolt and you will be chasing, andrenaline will cause them to go alot farther.

Either way, in this case, there was not much respect for the animal.

This is no different then 99% of the hunting shows on WILD TV. I personally hate all the jumping around, yelling, high fiving, etc, done by the hosts of these shows. To me, it shows disrespect to the animal, although I'm sure that's not how they mean it, they are just excited.

Although in this video, it wasn't the "excitement" that pissed me off, it was the fact of them dicking around when the animal was wounded, there is no place for that in hunting. I have lost a deer before and it's a horrible feeling know the pain it must have suffered.

Ramidogg? That guy is a scumbag. I just started hunting and haven't killed anything yet but I know hunting is not about that. I hope new hunters don't think its cool to do what he did and to show his face? He dug his own grave. Inbred.

I disagree. Joy and jubilation are the final display to what should have been an exciting event, and are not generally a celebration of the animal's death.
The mentality of many hunters is to excuse the killing of animals by stating that they only do it for the meat.
Let's face the facts, no one on this website hunts to survive. A true hunter does it for the thrill of the chase, otherwise you're just a killer with no emotion. The kill is a necessary means to an end, but we don't need to excuse the fact we enjoy all aspects hunting. However, a kill shouldn't dictate whether or not the hunt was enjoyable.

I see no reason not to get excited, if I quit getting exited when I hunt I will quit. I think we agree on that...

There is joy in being successful in my hunt,...no joy in the physical fact that I have just ended an animals life.
No jumping hi 5's, or screaming or devil horn fingers with "f**k ya's"

for me, you may hear the word "great shot" or "good animal" and a hand shake or pat on the back.

What others do, well that;s their call.

Am I guilty of being Mr Ethics, or Mr know it all?

If showing respect toward myself, fellow hunters and the animal is all "high amd mighty" ..then by all means, everyone, refer to me as Mr High and mighty! :)

 So you're just reiterating what I said, right?

Here at canadiangunnuts we frown apon being excited after a kill.

After planning all year and putting in the honest work becarefull..... There is a ethical limit of how happy you can be.

#### boys. Who cares. Fist pump or cry and pray, whatever. Just stay safe and enjoy the hunt.

What are you talking about bud? Don't you know ALL the hunters here on CGN hate killing SOOO much...they do it with sober faces and go home sad after the hunt. The reason they spend so much time/money investing in hunting gear and scoping out areas and everything is ONLY becuase they hate it so much!!! GEESH!!! :jerkit:

Well, I usually find myself glowing with satisfaction after a successful hunt. Usually, the first thing I do when I find the carcass is I'll have a little lay down in the woods where the shot was, feeling warm and fuzzy inside, and just reflect on everything that led up to it. Hooting and Hollering has occurred on more than one occasion too!

I have to say, the first thing I do if I wound an animal is *feel true and honest remorse*. I didn't plan all year and put in the hard work for that sh*t. Joy and delight are not on the menu.

I still remember what it felt like the first deer I ever wounded and it weighs on me any time my finger's on the trigger. I hope this joker in the video at least learned something - even if it takes a little time to set it.
