I'm trying to locate a light mounting solution for the 12.5 grizzly etc. With no extra tube or barrel ahead of the forend it looks difficult to find the proper setup.

I don't like the looks of the surefire setup so thats out. And I don't want a dozen rails on the forend either.

I did find the GG&G forend at brownells that has a small rail through it, I believe the rail mounts to the forend tube. Is there any Canadian dealers that would supply something like this? And has anybody used this setup with success?

you can make your own. i purchased some short aluminum picatinny rails on ebay ($5), then made a rectangular recessed slot for it in my forend with a dremel. i drilled and tapped a coarse thread screw into the forend, then JB welded both the rail and screws in. its held up for almost 2 years now with no signs of loosening. if it does loosen somehow, ill recess a couple of short nuts on the inside, but i havent needed to yet.

^incidentally, i dont like PGs - one is on my Wingmaster to show that if you want the shortest 12GA instead of a PGO shotgun you can just buy an 8.5" Grizzly and have a fully functional gun with a full stock instead.

You know that looks like the best method! I thought I might get laughed at JB welding it on, getting the bubba comments. I have a machine shop so I might as well throw the forend in the mill and cut it in properly. I'm off to ebay to find a rail!

you need more than just the JB weld to hold it on - i tapped mine for coarse thread screws.
also, dont recess it TOO deep or you wont be able to slide the flashlight mount on.

Yes I realize I need to screw it on as well. The jb will give it a solid backing support though. Haven't decided on a forend yet, still looking for a grizzly. Might just buy a 14" barrel for my 870 bird gun. I also ordered 2 3" long picatinny rails and a streamlight tlr-1 to go on it.
