I was looking at the AB hunting regs the other day, I was looking at the definition of Resident. It states that

a person who either

* has his or her only or primary residence in Alberta and
1. is a Canadian citizen or is admitted to permanent residence in Canada, or
2. has lived in Canada for the 12-month period immediately preceding the relevant date;

This might sound stupid, but what is a Primary Residence?

According to this, I'm considered a resident of AB when I make my primary residence in AB. Am I correct? or Did I miss something?

If you list Alberta first in your location section of Gunnutz you are a resident:p
If your Drivers License and health card use your AB address and your bills get sent there you are an AB resident, you may just happen to be working out of province.

Some people have more than one, or several homes. The home that you live the most in, is your primary home.

ex; my brother has a home in Edmonton, and one in Vancouver. he spends most of his time in Vancouver and has a Vancouver address on his drivers license. This makes him a PRIMARY resident of Vancouver.

The long and short of it is do you pay property and income tax in Alberta? Otherwise you are just another one of the countless carpet baggers who comes to reap the benefits but contributes nothing.

Alberta is so good in that way. The day I moved here, I was a resident,..give me my TAGS !!!!
I getDad and my sister to come hunt too!

I shoot 4 deer and either an Elk or Moose (or both) almost every year...
Throw in a pile of grouse, rabbits, geese and ducks...bears

We haves some time hunting,..lots of enjoyment and lots of meat!

No waitin a undred years for a tag like I did back home,.. :)

As our population steadily increases the time between higher demand tags will get longer, as it has slowly been doing.

Just be happy we have the completely fair draw system we do. We all get a turn, in our turn. Our opportunities are almost unchanged from years ago when virtually all tags were general, over the counter.

Add in the suppl. tags, and the general seasons; well put it this way. I can't imagine a much better system than what we have right now, and I sincerely hope srd keeps doing what they're doing. I can plan my draws 4 years in advance, and with the exception of goats can hunt virtually every species in the province, every year if I so desire. What's not to like?

Where do the proceeds from buying tags and licenses go?? When I buy my waterfowl license where does that go? How bout the volunteer work I do for Ducks Unlimited Lethbridge College chapter?

Not to highjack the thread , but what if your not a resident . I will be heading to Fort Mac area in sept , hope to bring my rifle along .:)

If you are going there for work, nd staying there more days in the week than not, then you will be a resident.

Get an alberta drivers with the address of where you will be staying, and happy hunting.
