Grips are actually thin, not as some people here that claimed to be extra thick. The Pachmayr grip on the norc is much fatter. I find the wood grips fit my hands much much better. The 1911 grip was simply too thin for me, so this gun is much more filling in the hands, although I would say still a bit on the smaller side... Maybe I do have big hands...

Metal guide rod (not sure why... there's this guy on youtube who's got the exact same gun has a plastic guide rod...)

Sig injection molded hammer (disappointed)

Trigger feel is very very different. The Norc double action has a strong resistance but once overcome it breaks easily. The sig has a lighter double action but the resistance is constant, making for a very smooth pull.

Smooth DA trigger is enormously better than the way Norc trigger behaves. Norc DA trigger makes for a very jerky pull, almost always throwing the point of aim off the intended target.

As for the short reset trigger, the difference in reset travel is hardly noticeable, I guess the norc just have a very short reset to begin with. What surprised me is that the trigger is very thin, unlike the picture on Sig arms website.

The slide is not interchangeable. The sig slide is too tight and will not fit the norc frame without significant sanding.

Let me know what you think!

Is it normal for one to get a hardon for such photos ?

This is so on my to get list but its going to be a layaway or income tax type purchase ... not as fortunate in the funds department.

Yes it's normal, I've had it happen to me every time I looked at the photo before I finally bought it.

Oh, sad about those sights. I'd take some black paint and erase the rear 2 dots before you even shoot it the first time. A much better option is to replace the sights unless you're shooting Production.

You must have the hands of gigantor!
Seriously though, you've got a Short Trigger there, so if you actually do need a bit more, you could swap it out for a regular one. I seem to be thinking I have a spare one laying around somewhere, so if you want to try it PM me and I'll see if I can dig it up. (I just thought about that some more, and I definitely have one, and it came out of.... A P226SSE, lol!)

Metal vs. plastic guide rods seem to be a Forrest Gump kinda thing. You neva know what you gonna git.

As for the MIM parts, they've been using them for YEARS. I've got a 226 from '84 that has an MIM hammer! It STILL hammers! IMNSHO there's really no problem with them!......

However.... Bruce Gray has been talking for quite some time about putting together a set of machined parts to replace the MIM ones. Give him a call and say you'd be interested. Maybe your call will be the one that pushes him over the edge. (He just chuckles whenever I talk to him about it, so I think he's got something up his sleeve...)

The SRT only affects SA reset, right? So I'm not sure if you're talking about DA reset, but you won't notice anything unless you pull the trigger, hold it, rack the slide, and then release it to the SA reset point. (Or just add ammo... lol) I'd be shocked if you noticed no difference between that and a Norinco....

Nice sig ! no offense to the norc owners, but boy does that sig ever blow it out of the water...
love pic #6 of wife/gf no doubt saying " now you're taking pictures of the thing, you've been looking at it all day"
for some reason pic #8 makes me laugh, typically cat, wakes up long enough to see what all the excitement is about, then is no doubt headed back to bed.

haha thanks for the pics, and congrats on the sig!

Epps Ellwood. For $1500 all inclusive. I think it's a good Canadian price.

Had to wait 2 months though, mostly because delays resulting from the Canada Post strike.

Thats a great shop. I got my Sig P226 TACOPS there.
Looks great I think I may need one like that later on.

...and it matches your pretty red toenails too:eek:..Dear lord, I hope those arent yours!(not that there's anything wrong with that:))

I know MIM parts are probably good enough, but I don't like the look of that "seam" in the middle of the hammer... if they want to use MIM at least do a better job at it...

Yeahs I did test the SRT with the way you described. It's not that there's no difference between the Norc. I did notice the difference when I let go of the trigger really carefully, but the difference is surprisingly small. I was hoping for a dramatic change like instant reset or something, maybe i'm just being greedy.:p
