Just a note to those who may be attending the CQB shoot at Borden this weekend. It's going to be VERY HOT... Please ensure you bring enough fluids and keep hydrated.

If you are sweating, you're good, if you STOP sweating, you may have a problem!! LOL

Today I made less mistakes and the score improved. I drank a lot more water and I suspect that had something to do with less mental errors.

I tried something that Tim once suggested last year. He said that if you double tap the rifle, the scond shot will be away before the rifle jumps. This year I have a muzzle break/compensator on the rifle, so muzzle jump seems less. I have tried double and even tripple tapping in the events where we want to shoot the rifle quickly so we have time to shoot the pistol. It works!

Today In two of the three pistol shoots I was able to get all my rounds off. I have never been able to do that before. I hated missing the chance to fire pistol shots on score because I am a fair pistol shot and there is a real chance to score some more points.

The rifle shots looked good enough:

And with more time, the pistol shots counted, too:

I don't know if the muzzle compensator makes much differnce or not. The practice session in the morning is the time to find out. Here is what my double tap looked like:

My duck walk shoot still sucks big time. I think i would have a better group if I threw a handful of gravel at the target.

I am blessed that one of my sons comes out to shoot with me. It adds to the pressure to perform. He seems shocked that I can count to 4 and remember to change mags... An old fart with a Norinco can still shoot, even if it takes a bit longer to advance to the next pink string.

The proliferation of steel case ammo has one advantage - a magnetic rake.

I swung by today around lunch time to check it out, thinking that the shoot was full, only to have Tim tell me they were one shooter short. D'oh!

We have an awesome shooting community in BC, but this event has attracted more than what I have seen in our local events.

Ganderite - fantastic shooting today. Well done

Holy crap hot. I thought I was hydrating enought but by the time we finished and Plink and I were doing stats I started to get light headed.

I had a couple rifle issues today and I did not think clearly and fast enough to deal with it so I missed getting some rounds off. And the ones I did just plain were not directly properly to the 5 ring.

But all the negatives aside I had a fantastic day as usual and can't wait till the next match that I can attend. Hopefully I will do enough prep to get my scores moving up again.

Tim K - thanks again for organizing. It was all most too much fun.

All I can say is I am amazed at what Ganderite can do.. GOOD SHOOTING man! Excellent!

Glad to see the CF out with some good shooters as well!

Always good to support the troops with theses outings.

As usual, great bunch to shoot with, lots of laughs and hopefully next time I'll try to catch that bugger who won!

Thanks to Bolivar for the help getting the scoring done, that was a bit painful in a 90 degree shack! :D

Special thanks to Treddnicks better half for bringing in the score sheets and for generally providing a better view than the rest of your saggy asses... :D :D

AND As usual, thanks to TimK for running an excellent match and a great day at the range!

Ganderite, Those groups are phenomenal!!!

Still pretty happy with my day and with my best scoring yet.:D

Great day as always!!:canadaFlag: Thanks to Tim, Plink and everyone else who made this happen. It was a ton of fun and as usual you guys rock!!!!

Ganderite....congrats....you have taught me so much and shown me even more. Glad to see Jason out there too. I couldn't ask for a better brother in law. Too bad I did not live closer and could take part in more competitions. I love the #4 especially vintage shooting.

Great match, guys!

TimK; thanks for putting on a great show again! Thanks to all of the volunteers as well.

Bolivar; thanks for not beating me too soundly.

Did everyone's score fall apart in match 4, like mine? I was way off my game by the time I got to stick my ass out and shoot on the move, and scored terribly that round. Who would have guessed that 30 degree weather will affect your shooting after several hours?

Congrats, Ganderite!

Can't wait for the next one!

Does anyone get a good score on thar duck walk match? My target looks like I used buckshot.

I wonder if a walking match with handgun instead of rifle would be better?

from shooting IDPA, i can tell you that shooting on the move with a pistol is a hell of a lot easier than with a rifle..

D has moving and shooting down pretty good..

stick your ass out, and lots of fast small steps.

Hey, I'm getting better with my M14!! See yeas Aug 13. Will do even better.:D

Great day, thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm bringing my son next shoot, my daughter will likely come and watch. She may do one later in the year.

Fun for the whole family!
