I just bought myself a Winchester model 94. I would like to date this rifle...serial # is 4193###. How do I do so?
Much thanks, UTAF

Thanks for the link. I have been meaning to find out the date of manufacture for the '94 I recently picked up, so I just did - 1951!![]()
Just to confirm. Is your 1951 model 94 drilled and tapped for an aperature sight?
They were in 1956, but I don't think yours would have the two holes on the left side of the receiver.
Just man up and ask her, she'll probably say yes. Take her for a nice dinner, maybe a movie. End it with a late night walk under the full moon. She'll be butter in your hands.
For 6 diget 1894 rifles, I use this formula.
Take the 1st diget, double it & add 2, that will get you close to the yr produced. Very early rifles (1900-1905) will be a yr or so before that number & later rifles (1915-25) will be a couple yrs after that number.
