Well i finally decided to buy a Shotgun and i went with the Maverick Security 88 6 Shot 18.5 ... it should be here sometime next week so i can add it to my 3 SKS's and according to the Wife that is it for my Collection.........:D at least for this year. From what i have been reading about them they seem like pretty nice little guns and at a great price too.

Yeah i am looking forward to getting it...this will be the first shotgun i have ever owned in my 45 years, reviews look really good on this gun. I know there are far more better and expensive guns out there but for the little bit of Target shooting and maybe some Rabbit hunting that i will be doing it should be fine.
 
I've been duck hunting with a Maverick 88 for the past 2 years. My buddies have shotguns that cost at least 4 times more but I came home with just as many ducks. Very reliable under harsh conditions and weather......I have no complaints.
 
It was (is) my first shotgun. Handed over the $200 in January of 2006 and no complaints yet.

Actually, I lied. My only complaint is that the guns low price makes it hard for me to justify spending money on a new buttstock with a shorter LOP.
 
Dirt cheap, weighs next to nothing and extremely reliable.

I've had 2 Mavericks in the past, one as a kid one as an adult, an I just bought another one because I love them that much.

Best pump shotgun out there for $250-275 area.
 
Bought one for my girlfriend... seems like a really solid shotgun for the money.

The Barrels fitting from a Mossberg 500 is good to know ...so i could put a longer Barrel on it for Geese?? if so that is another good reason to own one. After reading all the comments i feel very satisfied about my choice.Thanks Guys.
 
I find mossbergs come with overly-long lop buttstocks, and that negatively impacts recoil and throws your form off. Shortening it or swapping for a shorter one will help alot, as do good recoil pads. But to the OP, I know so many people who have owned them, myself and my father both had one plus several friends and no one ever had a failure of any kind. Hands down its the best value on the shotgun market period. You wont be dissapointed

I was reading all the reviews on the internet and i have yet to come across a bad one about these guns. I like the look of the Mavericks, i checked out many different types of Norinco's and looked at a few Remington Shotguns but i kept coming back to the Mossberg.

No..:( I was trying to impress the my son and his buddy...it didnt work...they laughed at me holding my shoulder in EXTREAM pain. I still have that FROZEN SHOULDER thing haunting me...dam thats painfull.:(

Are you mounting the butt on you shoulder pocket, not across your radial nerve? MAJOR difference in felt recoil
 
I also picked up a mossberg 88 security as my first shotgun, took it out and had an absolute blast with it. deffinatly worth the money, I will post some pics later...everyone likes gun ####!
