FN Herstal is submitting the Ballista for US military trials. This rifle is made by Unique Alpine and looks to be a real winner.

It is cute... but that looks like an exposed hammer. Is it some sort of Marlin-lever/Weatherby-bolt hybrid?

(just kidding, I know it's not really an exposed hammer)

Looks pretty wild, but rather large exposed safety...as far as real field rifles go , I'd expect it to get caught on something at the wrong time... Being an old post does anyone know if is was addressed after trials?

you can build many really good shooting guns for the cost of one pretty one. I wonder how many are being bought, only to receive a diet of Norinco ammo and a Barska scope?

Can you say " I wanna be an MRAD !" if its more than 5 or 6k you can rename it " FJ Ballista " The J will stand for Joke and you can use your imagine nation for the F.

Id just pay for a Barrett. Or build something on a Stiller XL

FNH is wannabe?

Well, maybe not a "wannabe"; but just a "noob"
I mean they've been in the gun business for what... 6 months now? and this is their second design, right?

I don't think they ever should have stopped building ### toys, that's where the real money will be in this century.

Although, I'll bet the recoil pad is very soft.
But I could do without that little phallus under the cheek pad.

Just kidding, I carried an FN C1A1 in the late '70s
