Who wouldn't like a new SKS-D? As long as they didn't think they could price them like CZ858's.

Had a resticted 16" bbl SKS sporter which took AK mags. Was a sweet gun but sold it last year to make room for other projects. Was a very nice SKS, one of the finest I have owned.

I had an SKS D after years of searching for it. Once I had one I wasn't impressed with the quality and found it jammed quite a bit. I sold it for more than I paid for it. I'm happy with my CZ-858.

i use to have a SKS-D collection, i had 4-5 which i sold them all early this year due to down sizing.

i had no issue at all .

I have an SKS-D and have never had a problem with jamming or anything else. Its a great rifle and won't be leaving my collection.

Mine never had issues, but the quality just isnt the same as a Russian or Chinese mil.

when it came to quality , you have to remember the "D" arent newly manufactured, all of them are converted so if the original SKS are of good quality then "D" it converts to will be of reasonable good quality.

good quality or bad , back then most people werent gonna pay alot for a SKS that accepted an AK mag so the price sold was only $25 (or 25%) more than standard SKS but look at the price spread now and that is simply bcos nobody imported any lately.

so yes, the smart money back then was to buy a "D".

BTW: a "D" peaked in 2007 at $600 , while a standard SKS was $169.

The first one made the Khyber Pass guns look like customs. The second one was a bit nicer but still looked like it was carved out of a block of metal with a very dull chisel. Tried to disassemble it to get the cosmo out,but could'nt get the trigger guard off. Gave up before I destroyed something and listed it on the EE,cosmo and all. It was unfired since new.

Same, although some repro thumbhole stocks and some ATI or Choate stocks would be nice too.

I honestly don't know why Norinco ever stopped making them. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Why anyone would pay even close to the price of a CZ 858 boggles my mind. Hell, I am not sure if I would even pay close to half after owning both an SKS and a CZ 858.

I agree, after owning both, only a yugo sks will get anymore than $200 out of my wallet. And that's because I find it a beautifully made rifle, but the vz58 is a way better shooter. It's just a better fit.

Just voted - no. Why buy a SKS when you can buy a CZ 858 or something better. Also a new manufactured SKS has limited to no interest as a collectible.

I bought mine when they were selling for 199 brand new in 2005. Not worth the 199 bucks... Was a neat novelty for a while, sold it and bought a regular Chinese SKS.
