No more Bushnell 4200 scopes?

They still make 3x scopes - i.e. 1.25x4, 2x7 and 3x9. It looks like the price has been adjusted upwards, too.

January 2011
Bushnell Outdoor Products, an industry-leader in high performance sports optics for more than 60 years, has introduced its 2011 line of Elite series riflescopes. The product line features 18 models enhanced with a host of new features for optimal performance and lasting reliability.

Featuring fully multi-coated optics, the Elite riflescopes deliver 95 percent light transmission across 300 percent more of the visual light spectrum than before. To enhance low-light performance, Bushnell has introduced Ultra Wide Band (UWB) Coating, an anti-reflective coating that allows the best possible light from the front of the glass to the eyepiece, resulting in optimum brightness and true color across the light spectrum.

So it looks like they still make all the same scopes, just new coatings and lumped under one series.

Smoke and mirrors, and mo money...:p

How do you get 300% of something? I call BS. - dan

it's not 300% 'of' is 300% 'more' - there's a difference. 300% more is triple. You can get 300% more mileage, for example, when you switch from pickup to a compact. Or 300% more power when you switch from a compact to a sports car.

Bushnell has dropped the line. No more. No More. Nor more.

Were they not selling well? That is usually the reason for most business decisions like this.

Ted

They changed that this year.
no more 3200 or 4200 only the Elite ones.
they re still made in Japan except two models made in China.

the lenses seems to be the same as the 4200. so a new model under an older dress.

but not easy in those days where LOW in Japan is making riflescopes for so many companies.

we may have some on sale now ...

all the best.

And how do you get 300% more of the "visible light spectrum"? It is what it is, no more, no less. Where did 300% more of it come from? - dan

We still have some 3200, 4200 and 6500 in stock including package deals with trail cameras.

Give us a shout, we have them at great prices ;)

The chances are when they claimed 95% light transmission on the old 4200, it was only over a very narrow part of the light spectrum (eg red). Now it transmits light at 95% over a three times wider range of the spectrum (eg red, blue and green). Just marketing / advertising BS to make it sound better than it actually is!

I guess its a bit like saying a new truck model gets better gas mileage on city AND highway instead of just on the highway.

The 3200 and 4200's are pretty popular scopes, and I'm sure Bushnell not wanting to lose their marketing edge need to keep updating the product line and image. Unless I hear otherwise, I'll still use the higher end Bushnell scopes. You get what you pay for, but for some applications you get pretty good value for you money with their $300 -$700 scopes. The tactical series for instance gives good value to a beginning target shooter, and I know several hunters that enjoy their 3200's on hunting rifles.

Bushnell is notorious for changing it's line up. It's forever switching around model names, features, reintroducing past models (like scopechief and banner) but at different levels of quality. The worst thing they did was drop/lose the B&L name. It seemed like a vg opportunity to break from the Bushnell name into a higher quality line and compete with Leupold and similar. Also seems they have too many low price cheapo scope lines on the market that would drag down the image of the better scopes.

.

So here is a question as I do own a 4200.
What is Bushnell going to replace it with if the
warranty repair is ever needed?
I know years ago dad had a Scope Chief on the Shultz and
it went for a chit. I receicved a B&L in exchange.
This is a sweet scope.

These just arrived in stock :D
