The Milsurp Online Match is Running Again!

Mid-sept would work out much better for me, but don't feel you have to change Nything just for me. Whatever works out best for you. You are the guy doing all the work. I can still squeeze it in with an aug close, just can't maybe shoot all the distances.

The Camp Borden fun shoot on July 24 (2 days from now) is shot at 100, 200, and 300. I propose to take some of those pdf Vintage targets and use them for the aiming marks for those with vintage milsurps.

They will get the chance to shoot them at 3 ranges.

I want to play, I just can't decide on what to enter. I just got some 6.5x55 and I have a M98/38 bolt action as well as an AG42B, but only 20 rounds. I might just have to buy more. I also have a martini enfield that shoots 303 british that I should probably put some rounds through. I might have a line on some ammo for my Steyr M95 en bloc clips and all :)

Any suggestions on what to focus on would really help. I'm a reborn shooter that hasn't touched a round off in over 20 years. I just recently took possession of my inherited collection and I'm itching to get out and burn powder!

Too tough to recommend, I'd say pick whatever you have ammunition for and hit the 100 yard to start. That sounds like your preferred 6.5x55 and your .303 Martini. Don't be discouraged if the first targets don't come out as you would like in a perfect world, just enjoy it!

My month old Mosin started salivating as it read over my shoulder about this. I'm in! Looks like I need to buy that case of surplus 54R and start practicing.

Would it be OK to also enter a sporterized Lee Enfield? It's got the original sights but aftermarket wood.

And just to be clear we can shoot anytime between now and the closing time as long as the target scans are posted here?

" SNIPER CLASS: Any Sniper or repro, weight limit 15lbs. Caliber rules same, optics should be period correct but this isn't always possible. "

with the " sniper class " since original glass is hard to come by , would restricting the scopes to lets say 4 power work ?

Good to see someone else will be shooting Russians too...My Mosin and SVT40 will get some love this summer now.

Yep, your sportered Lee Enfield and what you've said about target submission is dead on, shoot anytime between now and the closing date just be sure to submit the targets before closing. You can also better your targets as you go, feel free to submit the early targets and if you beat them, you get to replace your score so to speak with the highest you achieve.

For now, I don't want to get too rule heavy and will stick with the guideline rather than a firm number. We'll see how it works out last match only had a single sniper.

i'm just looking at my swedish mauser and lee enfield , both with scopes mounted on them , and thinking that there must be alot of other guys out there with military rifles with newer scopes that might like to take their rifles out to play ......

At are club meeting we mentioned about getting our club members together to enter this match so there should be numerous entries coming. A few years back a CGN'er put on a similiar match which kind of turned out to be a eastern verses western Canada milsurp shoot which was abit of a eye opener in that us easterners always thought the westerners new how to shoot their milsurps!

A question on the rest allowed. The rules say anything that doesn't hold the rifle. Does this mean a front rest and tail bag are ok?

Biggest thing is to shoot from a field position, or near it, if you can get your rest and bag in place and the rifle seated in under 10 seconds, and the rest and bag aren't hard to carry (and are something you'd normally carry in the field), I don't see why not. Personally, I shoot this match from my hunting daypack without a butt support (except the ground, if elevation allows, last year I can't remember), to keep in the spirit of a field shoot.

I'd like to avoid purpose built rests etc as much as possible, but they can be rationalized. Main purpose is to shoot the old army way. :)

Gotcha. What I was thinking for a rest and bag do not fit into the spirit of this match. I guess prone with a backpack for a rest will have to do.
