Doubt they could produce them any cheaper than the Norinco ones that were selling for $179 Canadian.
Perhaps they could make new SKS rifles, but more modernized: tighter machining tolerances, Synthetic stocks, no bayonet stuff up front, working detachable mags, side-rail integrated onto the receiver, etc etc.
Pretty well everyone who owns an SKS will do these mods at one time or another (well, save for the tighter machining tolerances), why not just save us the work?
