I have a DA Outlaw. I have been storing it in my locked gun room on a wall mount with a trigger lock (I know it's more than compliant with the regs).

I just noticed that the forward trigger is exposed even when trigger locked. My question is how do others store their double barrel, double trigger shotguns? Are Masterlock triggerlocks good enough?

I am especially thinking of how to do it when travelling.

Does it come apart like most doubles?

As a non-restricted I'm pretty sure that if its in 2-3 pieces its safe to store as it cannot be fired and will not need a trigger lock. Sort of like a bolt action seperated from its bolt. It can be put back together in a matter of seconds, and carrying it in anything should be super easy as each piece is what...probably 20" long at most?

Don't think you have to have a trigger lock for non restricted when traveling.

He's well aware of that.

I like having my side-by-side dissassembled for transport actually. Less waving it around for my neighbours to see, fits nicely in the passenger seat in 3 pieces.

As far as storage, I'm sure somebody makes an extra large trigger lock don't they?

Step 1: unload it
Step 2: put it in your truck
Step 3: lock truck

Just kidding :)

The ziptie idea from Brybenn is a good one, I'm presuming maybe you have young children in the house etc. hence why you are worried about this?

I was keeping it trigger locked in my locked gun room. Just hanging horizontally on my pegboard with my other long guns. Bolt guns stored with their bolts out and locked in a cabinet, semi-autos cable or trigger locked.

When I noticed that the front trigger could be accessed with the Masterlock trigger lock on, I wanted to find out what other Nutz were doing with their external hammer, double trigger SxS's to be compliant with the storage regs.

For the time being I am storing it in a locked Homak cabinet in my locked gun room.

Every gunnut should have his own gun room  ;).

Assuming the lock is one of those combination (also available with key) design? In the case of a 12ga, inserting the lock's cylinder ahead of the front trigger should adequately cover the entire perimeter of the trigger guard.

i break mine down. after that, there is the locking part on the bottom of the barrel that the pin in the action goes through - not sure what its called? anyways, i put a (rubber coated) padlock through that hole. there is no way to reassemble the gun or close the action without removing that padlock, and it seems much better than a triggerlock.
