got nothing to do with the gas system being too fragile- hwat it has to do with is SHIFTING THE BARREL upward by the feet of the bipod impacting the ground; if you were EVER to able to move the walls of the gas assembly by tightening the clamp, we'd all be in trouble- the EASIEST way is to either use the DRAIN HOLE( some MISINFORMED people call it a vent hole; but it's a drain- the fact that it lines up with the gas vent is just a happy coincidence) is just to drill out one of the rivets on the sling swivel and stick a sling swivel stud and t- nut in there, and epoxy the t- nut in place- just make sure you cut everything off so it doesn't interfere with either the piston or the rod
