Look. This happens every six months or so here. Someone hears a rumour, usually from some moron at a gun shop, about how the RCMP is going to reclassify everything. People believe the rumour (because it is believable) and proceed to write hundreds of letters and deluge the MP's offices with phone calls. The MP's and their staffs are perplexed because they find no record of it. Nothing happens because it never was going to.
We look like crazy morons who go off at the drop of a hat (or a silly rumour).
If the RCMP wants to put something in front of the MP's THEN we should respond, but not until then.

Speculation? I also might hold off on buying anything new. Haven't you guys heard? The world is going to end in 2012.
Instead of gun purchases, I'm going to send all my gun money to a tele evangelist somewhere in Florida.

I was troubled the first time I heard these rumors too, but as said they circle every so often. The elimination of the registry will make that even more difficult for the RCMP once it passes.

I bought my cz 858 a long time ago and nothing or no one will deter me from keeping it.
I'm sure some Mounties might like to reclassify them, but since they don't vote and can't pass legislation, they'd have a hard time doing it. Also, the more of them out there the harder a time they'll have.
Buy one, and then write your MP, the PM and the Justice Minister to make sure the Mounties will get turned down if they come asking for a ban.
