Crimson Trace laser grips - Can I bring them from the US?

They just mailed them. Description on packages, one said gun grips and the other said laser grips.

Lots of people break the rules, some deliberately, some certainly out of ignorance. They don't all get caught, but some do, and I'm sure those ones decide it wasn't worth it. I doubt if the U.S. authorities will bother trying to extradite the Canadian recipient of a mail order shipment that didn't have permits, but it'll suck to be the U.S. based sender.

Odds of ten thousand to one against getting caught don't help the one who gets caught.

If you don't want to deal with the states then just buy them up here, they are on the export list.

FYI, the US won't come after Canadians for ordering them.

I wonder. If a US exporter was prosecuted for violation of arms export law, would they flag the Canadian on the other end? Might make a visit to the US interesting, DHS computers being what they are.

You can already buy them here. There is no American law saying a Canadian can't order them. I have ordered more than a few items that US customs have seized as they were either over $100 or not on the list. Since then I have had two form 6 approved and a Nexus card. I say you are worrying over nothing. BTW I just got back from my 3 trip to the states this year and no problems coming or going.

This place is hilarious.

Why exactly does everyone assume that I am smuggling in gun parts?

I simply stated that I have never seen anyone searched by US authorities while leaving USA. I then get ten different people responding that I am breaking the law and I am going to end up in jail. One poster even suggests I should be banned for breaking forum rules.

Since when is it illegal to simply ask when, where, and how people were searched?
This somehow makes me guilty of a crime?

I got a good deal on a used set of crimson trace grips (<$100), so would I be ok to drive over the border with them?

You will be fine, unless you are caught on the US side, leaving the US with them. If that happens, you will have a very bad day.

Jesus Christ! Did you even read the thread?

The 100 dollar exemption only applies to licensed exporters but they dont have to apply for a specific export permit for those items if the order is under 100 dollars.

Simple rule to follow is you cannot bring any gun parts out of the us yourself!

You can order parts under 100 dollars but they have to be manufactured by a registered manufacturer and exported by a licensed exporter.

Simply put, it is often much easier to buy Canadian, or go check Brownells as they do lots of Canadian business.

Two summers back we drove from South Western Ontario (near London) to Sault Ste Marie. We went the short way through the U.S. from Port Huron to the Sue. Guess what, outside the U.S.-Canada border crossing there where about five U.S. customs Agents stopping us before we got to the bridge. The guy asked me if I had any guns and I said no. He seemed real disappointed. This summer coming back from the U.S. I saw some other people being stopped. Since President Hussein is now ruling the U.S. it appears Canadians are not to popular with the Supreme Ruler. However the same clown has made the U.S. - Mexican border non existent. I saw one guy driving a truck in Arizona with "illegal Alien" painted on the side. However I believe most Mexicans vote Democrat. The man above is right. I was never stopped returning to Canada in my life, however now I don't trust them any more than I would the RCMP in High River.
