My favourite .270 load for coyotes is the 110 grain Hornady V-Max over a near max load of H4350. How would a similar loading with the Barnes 110 TTSX perform? I've been reading so much on this site about the TTSX that I bought a box to experiment.

Expansion/energy dump is more important to me than penetration and a load that is less likely to ricochet is also important.

And, no, I don't care about the pelts otherwise I'd use a .223. ;)

The VMAX will give more explosive results on a yote than the TTSX. Both will blow the crap out of a yote, but I'd use the VMAX if pelts weren't important.

Also, the VMAX will pretty much disintegrate upon contacting stuff, the TTSX won't, so ricochet is reduced with VMAX.

What you're looking for in a coyote bullet, expansion and energy dump, is unfortunately exactly what the TTSX is not very good at. They have a tendency to expand less and consequently penetrate deeper with nearly 100% weight retention. The Vmax is definitely more explosive. Other than the Barnes Varmint Grenade, their bullets are pretty much designed for penetration and weight retention.

The VMAX bullet is my goto round for the coyote hunting. I haven't had a passthru yet with the VMAX. The Barnes TTSX will definitely leave a large exit hole in your coyote, & the ricochet factor is high with the TTSX bullet.

Ive been considering the 110 TTSX for deer as a replacement for a 130 gr. cup and core but tough to fix what is not broken.
I'm also considering it. What I'm seeking are V-Max and TTSX loads that shoot to the same POI relieving me of the need to adjust the scope between coyote and deer/black bear hunting.

I have 95 gr Vmax, 120 gr Nosler BT and 140 gr Barnes XLC loads for my 6.5x55 that all share the same POI. Its a useful thing, for sure.
