It's interesting to look at photos, and ponder all the hardware that was being used... not to mention the heroism of the men and women who rose up against the Nazis on this day.
As an aside, my dad trained as a paratroop with Polish forces under British command. Only recently did I learn that these paratroopers' mandate was in fact to liberate Poland... but instead, a few months later, they'd be deployed during Market Garden.
Had he not passed away 3 years ago, this would have been my dad's 91st birthday. Am thinking of you, wherever you are...
